 true heading annunciator is in view.
 On airplanes with LTN-92 INS,
 mag heading annunciator is in view.

 


 (24)
 Place INS transfer switch on captain's main instrument panel to CAPT 1 - F/O 3 position. Verify that first officer's HSI data source annunciator reads 3.

 (25)
 Repeat steps (19) and (20) for first officer's HSI.

 (26)
 Press STS pushbutton on INS-3 CDU.

 (27)
 Return INS transfer switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.

 (28)
 If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.


 P. INS/ADI Attitude Interface Tests
 (1)  
If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.

 (2)  
On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS, place mode selector switch on each MSU to OFF and then to STBY.

 On airplanes with LTN-92 INS,
 place mode selector switch on each MSU to OFF and then to STBY or
 ALIGN.

 (3)  
Enter present position coordinates into each INS.

 (4)  
On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS,
 place mode selector switch on each MSU to ALIGN.


 (5)  
Press STS pushbutton on each CDU. Verify that SYS STS/TEST page appears on each CDU display, with ALIGN between entry line markers. The number on ALIGN line is the status number. Observe each INS aligns to status 50 or a lower number.

 (6)  
Verify that ATT/COMP STAB switch on captain's main instrument panel is in CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.

 (7)  
On each ADI verify that attitude flags are out of view, and that attitude display is within one degree of airplane pitch attitude and within one degree of airplane roll attitude.

 (8)  
Place ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 3 - F/O 2 position. Verify that captain's ADI attitude flag is out of view, and that attitude display is within one degree of airplane pitch attitude and within one degree of airplane roll attitude.

 (9)  
Place ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 3 position. Verify that first officer's ADI attitude flag is out of view, and that attitude display is within one degree of airplane pitch attitude and within one degree of airplane roll attitude.

 (10)
 Return ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.

 (11)
 If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.


 Q. Attitude Reference Test
 (1)  
If required prepare for test as described in par. D.

 (2)  
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to ATT REF position.

 (3)  
Verify that each CDU display is blank and that:

 (a)  
The attitude flags on each ADI are out of view.

 (b)  
The heading and navigation warning flags on each HSI are in view.

 (c)  
The distance and ground speed displays on each HSI are blank.

 (d)  
INS updating annunciators on captain's and first officer's main instrument panels are black.

 

 (4)  
Place ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 3 - F/O 2 position. Verify that attitude flag on the captain's ADI is out of view.

 (5)  
Return ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.

 (6)  
If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.


 R. Restore Airplane to Normal
 (1)  Place each INS mode selector switch in OFF position.
 CAUTION: FAILURE TO MOVE MODE SELECTOR TO OFF WILL CAUSE INS TO
_______ AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO BATTERY POWER AND A WARNING HORN IN NOSE WHEEL WELL TO ACTUATE 30 |10 SECONDS AFTER POWER IS REMOVED FROM AIRPLANE.
 (2)  
Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).

 (3)  
Remove equipment cooling if no longer required (Ref 21-58-00).

 INS MODE SELECTOR UNIT - SERVICING (RELAMPING)

 1.  General
_______
 A.  The INS mode selector units (MSU) are located in the pilots' overhead panel P5. Individual lamps and the illuminated panel may be replaced while the INS is operating, without affecting the system alignment or operation.
