_______ REFUELED OR DEFUELED AND DO NOT OPERATE IN ANY RADIATING MODE WHILE A FUELING OPERATION IS BEING CONDUCTED WITHIN 200 FEET OF THE ANTENNA OR AN EXPLOSION MAY OCCUR.
PERSONNEL MUST NOT ENTER AN AREA CLOSER THAN 10 FEET IN FRONT OF A SCANNING RADIATING ANTENNA AND 80 FEET IN FRONT OF A STATIONARY RADIATING ANTENNA OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: WHEN THE WEATHER RADAR IS OPERATED IN ANY MODE OTHER THAN
_______ STANDBY OR TEST, DIRECT THE NOSE OF AIRPLANE SO THE FORWARD 180-DEGREE SECTOR IS FREE OF LARGE METALLIC OBJECTS (HANGERS, TRUCKS, OTHER AIRPLANES, ETC.) FOR A DISTANCE OF 300 FEET AND TILT THE ANTENNA UPWARD 14 DEGREES OR DAMAGE TO RECEIVER MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR IN TEST MODE UNLESS INS SYSTEM
_______ IS OPERATING AND CAPT'S AND F/O'S ADI ATTITUDE FLAGS ARE OUT OF VIEW SIGNIFYING VALID STABILIZATION INPUTS FROM INS SYSTEM. THIS IS TO PREVENT WANDERING OF ANTENNA AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE CAUSED BY ANTENNA GIMBALS REPEATEDLY BUMPING AGAINST STOPS.
 C.  When faults are encountered during tests, consult trouble shooting section.

 (1)
At weather radar control panel on pilots' forward control stand, place mode/function selector switch to OFF position.

 (2)
Check that WEA RAD R/T 1 and IND-1 circuit breakers are closed on electronic circuit breaker panel P7.

 (3)
Check that WEA RAD R/T 2 and IND-2 circuit breakers are closed on electronic circuit breaker panel P7.

 (4)
Provide airplane power. Refer to 24-22-00.

 (5)
Provide equipment cooling. Refer to 21-58-00.
CAUTION: ENSURE EQUIPMENT COOLING IS OPERATING BEFORE TURN ON OF

_______ ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT. EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM MUST BE SET FOR NORMAL COOLING AS DESCRIBED IN 21-58-00.

 (6)
Turn on INS system (Ref 34-41-00). Attitude flags on Capt's and F/O's ADI should be out of view before TEST mode on control panel is selected in step B.(9).

 (7)
Place control panel switches in following positions:

 (a)
Mode/function selector switch - STBY (standby)

 (b)
SYSTEM (R/T) transfer selector - 1

 (c)
Gain control - AUTO

 (d)
Antenna TILT control - 14 degrees UP.

 (e)
Polarizing filter handle (if provided) - full left (no filtering)

 (8)
Place controls on both indicators in following positions:

 (a)
RANGE - set to 100 miles.

 (b)
INT - midposition

 (c)
Display offset control: AHEAD (center)

 (9)
Select TEST mode on control panel. If ANT and R/T fault lights are provided on control panel, they will illuminate. Test pattern will appear after warmup period of approximately 3 minutes is completed.

 (10)
Adjust the brilliance/brightness/intensity controls on the indicators for presentation of range marks.

 (11)
On each indicator verify that range marks configuration displayed is as follows: LOCATION OF RANGE MARKS TOTAL NUMBER OF RANGE DISPLAYED RANGE MARKS DISPLAYED

 30 25 1 100 25,50,75,100 4 300 50,100,150,200,250,300 6

 (12)
On each indicator set display offset shift control to RIGHT position and observe that apex of display shifts to left. Select LEFT position and observe that apex of display shifts to right. Return to AHEAD position.

 (13) Observe test pattern on each indicator.  Rotate INT control clockwise to obtain test pattern shown in Fig. 501. If satisfactory test pattern cannot be attained, refer to trouble shooting section.
NOTE: The INT control should be adjusted so that the noise or
____ "grass" (small specks of light resembling snow) is absent behind the 25 NM range mark, but then appears and becomes progressively brighter reading outward to the iso-contour arc at 60 NM.
