 (10)
Set applicable INU tilt table for 20 degrees left roll and observe antenna is directed above zeroed position and tilted 20 | 2 degrees CCW as viewed from front.

 (11)
Set applicable INU tilt table for 20 degrees right roll and observe that antenna is directed above zeroed position and tilted 20 | 2 degrees CW as viewed from front.

 (12)
Level applicable INU tilt table and observe antenna returns to centered position.

 (13)
At weather radar control panel, select SYS 2.

 (14)
Repeat stabilization tests for system 2.  INS unit No. 2 supplies pitch and roll stabilization signals for weather radar system No. 2.

 (15)
Rotate control panel ANT TILT control and observe that antenna may be positioned from 14 degrees above zeroed position to 14 degrees below zeroed position.

 (16)
At control panel, select OFF position.  Make certain that OFF position is maintained so that personnel are not struck by antenna, then check that all switches on the antenna are placed in their normal operating positions. Disable transmitting section of R/Ts by selecting MOD OFF switch position at R/T units.

 (17)
Observing radiation and physical movement precautions at antenna, select NORM mode at control panel, then check R/Ts again to make certain that MOD switch is in OFF position. Observe that antenna scans normal | 90 degrees dead ahead sector.

 F. Close nose radome.
 (1)
If no further observations of the antenna are anticipated, close nose radome. Insert 5/16-inch allen wrench into each of six latches, depress and turn clockwise until latched. Be sure depressed inner latch returns to its original position (even with airplane skin). Refer to nose radome closing procedures in 34-43-

05.

 (2)
If no further testing is required perform Weather Radar Shutdown Procedure.

 G. Test Weather Radar System is Radiating Mode
 (1)  For check of system in a radiating mode, select NORM mode at pilots' weather radar control panel. Make certain that MOD switch at each R/T unit is in ON position.

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR WHILE THE AIRPLANE IS BEING
_______ REFUELED OR DEFUELED AND DO NOT OPERATE IN ANY RADIATING MODE WHILE A FUELING OPERATION IS BEING CONDUCTED WITHIN 200 FEET OF THE ANTENNA OR AN EXPLOSION MAY OCCUR.
PERSONNEL MUST NOT ENTER AN AREA CLOSER THAN 10 FEET IN FRONT OF A SCANNING RADIATING ANTENNA AND 80 FEET IN FRONT OF A STATIONARY RADIATING ANTENNA OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: WHEN THE WEATHER RADAR IS OPERATED IN ANY MODE OTHER THAN
_______ STANDBY OR TEST, DIRECT THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE SO THE FORWARD 180-DEGREE SECTOR IS FREE OF LARGE METALLIC OBJECTS (HANGERS, TRUCKS, OTHER AIRPLANES, ETC.) FOR A DISTANCE OF 300 FEET AND TILT THE ANTENNA UPWARD 14 DEGREES OR DAMAGE TO RECEIVER MAY OCCUR.
 (2)
Adjust indicator sweep intensity control CW to obtain a sweep display. Adjust other indicator controls as required to obtain radar video.

 (3)
On control panel set GAIN to NORMAL.

 (4)
Look for a target video return.

NOTE: A mountain range or well-defined hills in the background
____ or other large objects, rainfall, etc., may be used to obtain the return. Adjust range control for optimum display.
 (5)
Observing large video targets or heavy rainfall acquired in the NOR(M) mode, in previous step, select contour mode at control panel and observe that video inverts (light target becomes dark in light background).

 (6)
Observing ground targets acquired in the NORM mode, select MAP and observe that certain video targets may become larger and more targets may appear on display (cosecant-squared beam instead of pencil beam).

 (7)
Repeat radar video tests with system No. 2 selected at the control panel.

 (8)
If no further testing is required, perform Weather Radar Shutdown Procedures.

 4.  Weather Radar Shutdown Procedure________________________________
 A.  Rotate indicator INT controls fully counterclockwise.
 B.  At radar control panel, set antenna TILT to 0 degrees. Select STBY (standby) mode.
