Press STS pushbutton on CDU. Verify that SYS STS/TEST page is displayed on CDU.
(b)
Slew CDU display to place UPDATE between entry line markers. Verify that display automatically changes to UDT MODE: INS page, with CHANGE UDT MODE between entry line markers.
(c)
On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS: 1) Press EXP pushbutton on CDU, and slew display until ENABLE is between entry line markers. 2) Press ENT pushbutton on CDU. Verify that UDT: ENABLED
page is displayed on CDU. On airplanes with LTN-92 INS: 3) Press EXP pushbutton on CDU, and slew display until ENABLE
RNAV is between entry line markers. 4) Press ENT pushbutton on CDU. Verify that UDT MODE: RNAV page is displayed on CDU.

Check Approach Mode Annunciation and Display:
(a)
On VHF navigation control panel No 1, ensure that designated VORTAC station frequency is selected, and NORM and MAN switch/indicators are illuminated.
(b)
Press AUTO switch/indicator on VHF navigation control panel No. 1, verify that AUTO switch/indicator illuminates and MAN switch/indicator extinguishes.
(c)
Press INS APRCH switch/indicator on VHF navigation control panel No. 1, and verify that: 1) INS APRCH and MAN switch/indicators illuminate, NORM and
AUTO switch/indicators extinguish. 2) Captain's HSI MAG/TRUE annunciator shows MAG, and azimuth card changes to indicate airplane magnetic heading.
(d)
Press NORM switch/indicator on VHF navigation control panel No. 1, and verify that: 1) NORM switch/indicator illuminates, INS APRCH
switch/indicator extinguishes. 2) Captain's HSI MAG/TRUE annunciator shows TRUE, and azimuth card returns to original true heading indication.
(e)
Place captain's INS switch to 3 position. Verify captain's HSI data source annunciator shows 3.
(f)
Repeat steps (a) thru (d) for INS-3, using VHF navigation control panel No. 1 and captain's HSI.
(g)
Return captain's INS switch to 1 position.
(h)
Repeat steps (a) thru (d) for INS-2, substituting VHF navigation control panel No. 2 for VHF navigation control panel No. 1, and first officer's HSI for captain's HSI.
(i)
Place first officer's INS switch to 3 position. Verify that the first officer's HSI data source annunciator shows 3.
(j)
Repeat steps (a) thru (d) for INS-3, substituting VHF navigation control panel No. 2 for VHF navigation control panel No. 1, and first officer's HSI for captain's HSI.
(k)
Return first officer's INS switch to 2 position.
(13)
Disable VORTAC update at each INS as follows:
(a) Press STS pushbutton on CDU. Verify that SYS STS/TEST page is displayed on CDU.

Slew CDU display to place UPDATE between entry line markers. Verify that display automatically changes to UDT MODE: INS page, with CHANGE UDT MODE between entry line markers.

On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS, press EXP pushbutton on CDU, and slew display until DISABLE is between entry line markers. On airplanes with LTN-92 INS, press EXP pushbutton on CDU, and slew display until DISABLE RNAV is between entry line markers.
(d)
Press ENT pushbutton on CDU. Verify that CHANGE UPDATE MODE appears between entry line markers.
(14) If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
O. INS/HSI Navigation Interface Tests
(1)
If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.
(2)
On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS, place mode selector switch on each MSU to OFF and then to STBY. On airplanes with LTN-92 INS, place mode selector switch on each MSU to OFF and and then to STBY or ALIGN.
(3)
Enter present position coordinates into each INS.
(4)
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to ALIGN.
(5)
Press STS pushbutton on each CDU. Verify that SYS STS/TEST page appears on each CDU display, with ALIGN between entry line markers. The number on ALIGN line is status number.

On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS,
