Verify that the remote access switch is set to the OFF position.

Replace the access cover.
C. Set both CAPT's and F/O's VOR-ILS/INS switches to INS.
D. Set ATT/COMP STAB transfer switch on the captain's main instrument panel to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.
E. Set INS transfer switch on the captain's main instrument panel to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.
F. Set VOR/ILS transfer switch on the captain's main instrument panel to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.
G. Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).
H. Check for proper operation of pilots' panel illumination, indicator lamps and annunciator lights using master test and dim control (Ref 33-11-00).
I. Ensure inertial navigation systems No. 1, 2 and 3 have battery,
control display and mode selector units properly installed.
J. Provide cooling air to electronic equipment (Ref 21-58-00).
CAUTION: ENSURE EQUIPMENT COOLING IS OPERATED BEFORE TURN ON OF
_______ ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT. EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM MUST BE SET FOR NORMAL COOLING AS DESCRIBED IN 21-58-00.
K. Provide cooling air to INS equipment (Ref 21-58-00).
CAUTION: ENSURE THAT COOLING AIR IS AVAILABLE TO NAVIGATION UNITS
_______ BEFORE OPERATING INS. FAILURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE AIR SUPPLY WILL RESULT IN FAILURE OF NAVIGATION UNITS.
3. Action and Malfunction Messages (AIRPLANES WITH LTN-92 INS)

A. Action and malfunction messages are displayed on the CDU. Action messages are recommended actions that should be taken to correct a problem, the problem being identified by the malfunction messages.
B. Indication that a problem exists is from a steady or flashing WRN annunciator on the CDU, or by a warning indication on the HSI and ADI.
C. Display action and malfunction messages on the CDU by performing the following:
(1)
Press CDU STS pushbutton. SYS STS/TEST page appears on CDU display with action messages on line 5.
(2)
Slew CDU display up to place ACTION message on entry line; MALF message appears on line 4.
NOTE: When more than one malfunction or action message exists, the
____ display cycles through the respective lines at a 2-second rate.
D. Record action and malfunction messages and perform the action recommended by the action messages.

A. Action and Malfunction codes are displayed on the CDU. Action codes identify a recommended action that should be taken to correct a problem, the problem being identified by a malfunction code.
B. Indication that a problem exists is from a steady or flashing WRN annunciator on the CDU, or by a warning indication on the HSI and ADI.
C. Display action and malfunction codes on the CDU by performing the following.
(1)
Press CDU STS pushbutton. SYS STS/TEST page appears on CDU display.
(2)
Slew CDU display up to place ACTION code on line 3 and MALF code on line 5.
NOTE: When more than one malfunction or action code exists, the
____ display cycles through the respective lines once every two seconds.
(3)
Display the definition of ACTION codes by pressing EXP pushbutton. ACTION CODE page appears with action code number and definition.
(4)
Press EXP pushbutton. SYS STS/TEST page appears on CDU display.
(5)
Slew CDU display upward to place MALF on line 3.
(6)
Press EXP pushbutton. MALF CODES page appears on the display, with the first three malfunction code numbers and definitions.
(7)
Slew CDU display upward to display additional malfunction codes. Repeat slewing until all malfunction codes have been displayed.
