On airplanes with LTN-92 INS, place mode selector switch on each MSU to STBY. After 6 seconds, verify the following on each CDU display:
(a)
Top line displays PGM 92-04-10.
(b)
CUSTOM DBASE is displayed between entry line markers.
(c)
The fourth line displays the airline code and data base expiration date: SNXXXX.
(d)
The fifth line displays CLR: CONTINUE
(e)
The ALIGN annunciator on MSU illuminates amber in color.
(6)
If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
H. Annunciator and Display Tests.
(1)
If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.
(2)
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to STBY.
(3)
Press BRT and DIM pushbuttons on each CDU and verify that display brightens and dims.
NOTE: BRT and DIM functions are operable only in the numeric
____
mode.
(4)
Press STS pushbutton on each CDU. Verify that SYS STS/TEST page appears on each CDU display with ALIGN between entry line markers.
(5)
Slew each CDU display up until SYSTEM TEST page appears (on each display) with DISPLAY TEST between entry line markers.
(6)
Press EXP on INS-1 CDU and verify that:
(a)
Display pattern rotates through each of the five lines on INS-1 CDU display.
(b)
On INS-1 CDU, the WRN, BAT, ALR, and OFS annunciators come on.
(c)
ALERT annunciator illuminates on captain's HSI.
(7)
Repeat step (5), substituting INS-2 for INS-1 and first officer's HSI for captain's HSI.
(8)
Repeat steps (5) thru (5)(b), substituting INS-3 for INS-1.

On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS, on each MSU, press READY NAV and BATT annunciators. Verify that READY NAV annunciator comes on green and BATT annunciator comes on red. On airplanes with LTN-92 INS, on each MSU, press ALIGN and BATT annunciators. Verify that ALIGN annunciator comes on amber and BATT annunciator comes on red.

To end test, press STS or EXP pushbutton on each CDU.
(11)
If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
I. Present Position Entry
(1) If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.

(2) Airplane present position must be entered into INS before platform alignment can be completed.
NOTE: On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS,
____ if unreasonable entries of latitude or longitude are attempted (for example latitude entry greater than 90 degrees) the latitude or longitude line on the CDU display will flash.
In addition, the INS stores the coordinates of airplane present position at the time the INS was last shutdown. If a present position is entered upon subsequent turn-on, and this present position differs by more than 3+3T nautical miles (where T is time in NAV mode) from the last present position, the message POS. CHG. EXC; ENT = OVR CLR - RSET appears on lines 4 and 5 of the CDU display. If the newly entered present position is correct (the INU was moved since last turnoff) the new present position can be entered by pressing ENT pushbutton. If the present position is incorrect, press CLR pushbutton, and enter correct present position.
NOTE: On airplanes with LTN-92 INS, if unreasonable entries of latitude or longitude are attempted (for example latitude entry greater than 90 degrees), the system will reject the entry when ENT is pressed and the invalid data will flash. Press CLR and re-enter correct present position.
In addition, the INS stores the coordinates of airplane present position at the time the INS was last shutdown. If a present position is entered upon subsequent turn-on, and this present position differs by more than 1 degree and/or 3+3T nautical miles (where T is time in NAV mode) from the last present position, the CDU WRN annunciator will flash and the message CHECK PPOS ENTRY will be displayed on the POSITION page (the STATUS page will display ENTER PPOS). If the newly entered present position is correct (the INU was moved since last turnoff), the new present position can be entered by pressing ENT pushbutton. If the present position is incorrect, press CLR pushbutton, and enter correct present position.

Place mode selector switch on MSU to STBY.
(4)
Press POS pushbutton on CDU. Verify that POSITION (OR POSITION DATA) page with LAT and LON prompt/display lines appears on display with LAT line between entry line markers.
