 (11) Provide cooling air to INS equipment (Ref 21-58-00).
 CAUTION: ENSURE THAT COOLING AIR IS AVAILABLE TO NAVIGATION UNITS
_______ BEFORE OPERATING INS. FAILURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE AIR SUPPLY WILL RESULT IN FAILURE OF NAVIGATION UNITS.
 (12) Ensure that the following circuit breakers are closed on electronic circuit breaker panels P7 and P126.
 (a)  
INS (ALL)

 (b)  
VOR/ILS (ALL)

 (c)  
DME (ALL)

 (d)  
MHRS (ALL)

 (e)  
CADS (ALL)

 (f)  
HSI (ALL)

 (g)  
ADI (ALL)

 E. INS Battery Unit and Warning Alarm Tests

 (1)  If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.
 NOTE: To conserve battery power perform the following steps as
____
 quickly as possible.

 (2)  
Ensure all INS power circuit breakers are closed.

 (3)  
Place mode selector switch on each INS MSU to OFF.

 (4)  
Open circuit breaker on front panel of each INS battery unit.

 (5)  
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to STBY. Verify that INS does not turn on by observing that each CDU display is blank.

 (6)  
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to OFF.

 (7)  
Close circuit breaker on front panel of each INS battery unit.

 (8)  
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to STBY. Verify that display on each CDU illuminates.

 (9)  
Open INS-1 power circuit breakers. Verify that INS-1 CDU BAT light illuminates within two minutes, and ground crew call horn sounds approximately 30 seconds after circuit breakers are opened.

 (10)
 Close INS-1 power circuit breakers.  Verify that CDU BAT light extinguishes and horn sound ceases.

 (11)
 Open INS-2 power circuit breakers.  Verify that INS-2 CDU BAT light illuminates within two minutes, and ground crew call horn sounds approximately 30 seconds after circuit breakers are opened.

 (12)
 Close INS-2 power circuit breakers.  Verify that CDU BAT light extinguishes and horn sound ceases.

 (13)
 Open INS-3 power circuit breakers.  Verify that INS-3 CDU BAT light illuminates within two minutes, and ground crew call horn sounds approximately 30 seconds after circuit breakers are opened.

 (14)
 Close INS-3 power circuit breakers.  Verify that CDU BAT light extinguishes and horn sound ceases.

 (15)
 If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.

 F. INS Battery Parallel Test
 (1)  
If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.

 (2)  
Place mode selector switch on each INS MSU to OFF.

 (3)  
Set STANDBY POWER switch (on flight engineer's P4 panel) to MANUAL ON position.

 (4)  
Set INS BAT PARALLEL switch (on flight engineer's P4 panel) to ON position.

 (5)  
Place mode selector switch, on INS-1 MSU and INS-3, to STBY.

 (6)  
Verify that INS-3 CDU display is blank, and that INS-1 CDU display illuminates.

 (7)  
Place mode selector switch on INS-1 MSU and INS-3 MSU, to OFF.

 (8)  
Set INS BAT PARALLEL switch to NORMAL.

 (9)  
Set STANDBY POWER switch to NORMAL.

 (10)
 If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.

 G. Data Base Validity
 (1)  
If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.

 (2)  
On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS, place mode selector switch on each MSU to STBY. Verify the following on each CDU display:

 (a)  Title of data base (geographical zone, for example USA & CANADA, or MEDITERRANEAN) is on top line.

 (b)  
Program 72-73-00 is on second line.

 (c)  
Prompt/display line between entry line markers contains dashes for entry of present day, month, and year.

 (3)  
Enter todays date by pressing CDU pushbuttons corresponding to digits for day, month and year, in that sequence.

 (4)  
Press ENT pushbutton on CDU. Verify that CDU display
