In addition, the INS stores the coordinates of airplane
present position at the time the INS was last shutdown. If a
present position is entered upon subsequent turn-on, and this
present position differs by more than 1 degree and/or 3+3T
nautical miles (where T is time in NAV mode) from the last
present position, the CDU WRN annunciator will flash and the
message CHECK PPOS ENTRY will be displayed on the POSITION
page (the STATUS page will display ENTER PPOS). If the newly
entered present position is correct (the INU was moved since
last turnoff), the new present position can be entered by
pressing ENT pushbutton. If the present position is
incorrect, press CLR pushbutton, and enter correct present
position.
(2) Place mode selector switch on MSU to STBY.
(3) Press POS pushbutton on CDU. Verify that POSITION (OR POSITION
DATA) page with LAT and LON prompt/display lines appears on display
with LAT line between entry line markers.
(4) Press CDU 2N or 8S pushbutton to start latitude entry; N or S
character replaces <> symbol in LAT prompt/display line and letter N
appears following the POSITION (OR POSITION DATA) title line.
Letter N remains while data is being entered and goes out when ENT
is pressed.
NOTE: The letter N following the title line in the display after____
the initial pushbutton is pressed indicates that the display
is prepared to accept a numerical rather than an alpha entry.
(5) Press CDU pushbuttons corresponding to latitude including any
leading or trailing zeros.
NOTE: If an invalid latitude is entered, LAT line will flash on and____
off. Press CLR pushbutton and repeat steps (3) thru (5).
(6) If latitude displayed is correct, press ENT pushbutton on CDU.
Verify that LAT line flashes and display slews up to place LON
prompt/display line between entry line markers.
(7) Press CDU W4 or 6E pushbutton to start longitude entry; W or E
character replaces <> symbol in LON prompt/display line and letter N
appears following title line.
(8) Press CDU pushbuttons corresponding to longitude, including any
leading or trailing zeros.
NOTE: If an invalid longitude is entered, LON line will flash on____
and off. Press CLR pushbutton and repeat steps (7) and (8).
(9) If longitude displayed is correct, press CDU ENT pushbutton. Verify
that LON line flashes and GMT prompt/display line appears on
display.

On airplanes with LTN-72RL, ensure that present position coordinates are entered into each INS and that mode selector switch on each MSU is set to STBY. On airplanes with LTN-92, ensure that present position coordinates are entered into each INS and that mode selector switch on each MSU is set to STBY or ALIGN.
(2)
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to ALIGN.
(3)
Press STS pushbutton on each CDU. Verify that SYS STS/TEST page appears on each CDU display, with ALIGN between entry line markers. The number on ALIGN line is status number.
(4)
On airplanes with LTN-72RL INS, observe each INS aligns to status 40 or a lower number.
(5)
Slew each CDU display up until SYSTEM TEST page appears on each display.
