3. Weather Radar Trouble Shooting Procedure

A. AF 160, 162-171; Place each indicator PWR switches to off, wait 5 seconds and return both PWR switches to on. Check for the following test sequence on both indicators:
B. AF 183, 184; On control panel, set TEST mode switch to the pressed position. Check for the following test sequence on both indicators.
(1)
Antenna performs complete left-to-right scan-test pattern on indicators from left to right.
(2)
Antenna tilts UP then DN to zero degree - tilt angle on indicator read 15.00 up then 0.00 degree.
(3)
Antenna continues from 0.00 to DN 15.00 degrees then UP and stops at
0.00 degree.
C. Observe each weather radar indicator test pattern display (Fig. 101) for LRU failure messages or malfunction display (Fig. 102).
(1)
TEST appears in top left portion of display (slot 1).
(2)
AF 160, 162-171; A color bar consisting of green, yellow and red appears in upper left-hand corner of indicator (slot 4).
NOTE: In case of failure defective LRU will be displayed below
____ color bar in slots 6, 7, 8, or 9 and word FAIL will appear in upper-center portion of display.
(3) AF 183, 184; A color bar consisting of green, yellow and red appears in upper left-hand corner of indicator (slot 4).
NOTE: In case of failure defective LRU will be displayed in place
____ of the color bar and word FAIL will appear in upper-center portion of display.
(4) Test pattern on indicator displays four color rings; green at bottom, yellow, red and magneta at top with four equally spaced range marks. Azimuth marks should also be present (Fig. 101).
D. AF 160, 162-171;
Select ranges 20, 40, 80, 160 and 320 and check for following:
