G. Display Test
(1) Do a weather radar display test.
(a) Set these controls and switches on the WXR control panel as follows: 1) Set the MODE select switch on the WXR control panel to WX.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE WEATHER RADAR WHILE FUEL IS
_______ ADDED OR REMOVED FROM THE AIRPLANE. DO NOT TRANSMIT RF ENERGY WHILE FUEL IS ADDED OR REMOVED IN AN AREA 300 FEET OR LESS OF THE ANTENNA. THIS CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION.
MAKE SURE NO PERSONS ARE IN THE AREA 50 FEET OR LESS FROM THE ANTENNA WHEN IT TRANSMITS RF ENERGY. RF ENERGY CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
a) Make sure the WX mode message shows on the indicators.
2) Turn the TILT control to get good radar targets on the indicators.
(b) Push the correct range switch on each indicator to move the radar targets to the center of the indicator. 1) Make sure each indicator display is as follows:
a) The weather or terrain radar targets are in the
approximate center of the indicator. b) The green/yellow/red color bar is shown. c) The range message shows on the indicator. d) Equal distance range marks are shown for all ranges.

e) AF 160, 162-171;
The range mark message shows on the indicator. f) The system message does not show for system 1. g) The tilt message shows on each indicator.
(c)
Push the range switch on each indicator to the range above the initial position. 1) Make sure the radar targets move to the bottom of the
indicator.
(d)
Push the range switch on each indicator below the initial position. 1) Make sure the radar targets must move to the top of each
indicator.
(e)
Push the 80 range switch on each indicator. 1) Make sure the four range marks show on each indicator. 2) AF 160, 162-171;
Make sure the 20-mile range mark message shows on each indicator.
(f)
Turn the INT control on each indicator clockwise. 1) Make sure the intensity of the radar targets increase.
(g)
Turn the INT control on each indicator counterclockwise. 1) Make sure the intensity of the radar targets decrease.
(h)
Turn the INT control on the captain's indicator to the middle position.
(i)
Turn the INT control on the first officer's indicator to the middle position.
(j)
AF 160, 162-171; Push the HOLD switch on the captain's or first officer's indicator.
NOTE: When there is hazardous weather on the indicators, a
____ yellow HOLD message will change to a blue alert WX-P message then back to a HOLD message in the fault and alert message slot.
1) Make sure a yellow HOLD message flashes on the captain's
indicator. 2) Make sure the indicator display is frozen. 3) The other indicator continues the function as usual.
(k)
AF 160, 162-171; Push the HOLD switch again on the captain's or first officer's indicator. 1) Make sure the HOLD or WX-P/HOLD message is removed. 2) Make sure the indicator display returns to normal.
(l)
Set the SYS switch on the WXR control panel to the 2 position. 1) Make sure the system 2 message shows on each indicator.
(m)
Do the Display Test for system 2.
(n)
Set the SYS switch on the WXR control panel to the 1 position.
(o)
If no more tests of weather radar are necessary; Do the Weather Radar System Shutdown Task.
H. Indicator Offset Controls Test
(1) Do an offset controls test on the weather radar indicators.
