6. AF 160, 162-171, 183, 184; Weather Radar Antenna Flat Plate Removal (Fig. 404)

A. Ensure weather radar system circuit breakers are open and tagged with Do-Not-Operate identifiers.
CAUTION: HANDLE THE FLAT PLATE CAREFULLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE FLAT

PLATE.
B. Remove all safety wire from the clamp jaw bolts on the antenna pedestal.
C. Turn the two clamp jaw bolts on the antenna pedestal counterclockwise to open the jaws.
NOTE: Make sure that the A5 ring clamp on the elevation zero monitor
____
does not block or touch the flat plate.
Do not move the ring clamp on the elevation zero monitor. Make sure the monitor dial continues to show 0 degree. The alignment of the elevation monitor could change.
D. Carefully lift the flat plate away from the antenna pedestal.
WARNING: DURING AN ANTENNA FLAT PLATE REMOVAL USE TWO PERSONS AND A
_______ SAFELY INSTALLED PLATFORM. THE ANTENNA FLAT PLATE WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 5 POUNDS.
HANDLE THE ANTENNA FLAT PLATE CAREFULLY DURING REMOVAL. CAREFUL REMOVAL WILL PREVENT INJURY TO YOU OR DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNA FLAT PLATE.
E. Place protective cover on both waveguide flanges.

(1)
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel 1) WEA RAD R/T No. 1 on 115V AC essential radio bus 2) WEA RAD R/T No. 2 on 115V AC radio bus No. 2
(2)
Open the nose radome (AMM 34-43-00/401).
(3)
Remove the planar array (AMM 34-43-03/401).
(4)
Remove the antenna drive assembly:

(a)
Disconnect the electrical connector DB143A from the antenna connector J1.
(b)
Disconnect the electrical connector DB143B from the antenna connector J2.
(c)
Remove the screws and washers from the flanges between waveguide Section 1 and the antenna drive assembly.
CAUTION: DO NOT LOOSEN THE BOLTS ON THE SUPPORT ASSEMBLY OR
_______ THE MOUNT ASSEMBLY DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE ANTENNA DRIVE ASSEMBLY. THESE ARE ALIGNED AT THE FACTORY. IF THE MOUNT IS LOOSE OR NOT ALIGNED IN PITCH AND ROLL, DO THE WXR ANTENNA MOUNT MAINTENANCE PRACTICE IN 34-43-19/201. IF THE MOUNT IS NOT ALIGNED IN AZIMUTH OR THERE IS STRUCTURE DAMAGE TO THE RADOME SUPPORT STRUCTURE, HAVE A BOEING AOG TEAM DO A SPECIAL PROCEDURE. TELL THE BOEING SEATTLE AOG OFFICE.
(d)
Remove the two bottom mount bolts and washers on the antenna.
(e)
Loosen the two top mount bolts on the antenna.
WARNING: USE TWO PERSONS AND A SAFELY INSTALLED WORKSTAND
_______ DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE ANTENNA DRIVE ASSEMBLY. THE ANTENNA DRIVE ASSEMBLY WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 18 POUNDS. BE CAREFUL WITH THE ANTENNA DRIVE ASSEMBLY DURING THE REMOVAL.
CAREFULLY REMOVE THE ANTENNA DRIVE ASSEMBLY TO PREVENT INJURY TO YOU OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNA DRIVE ASSEMBLY.
(f)
Lift the antenna up and forward of the two top mount bolts on the antenna.
(g)
Remove the anntenna drive assembly from the mount.
(5)
Put dust caps on the antenna electrical connectors and waveguide flange.
(6)
Ensure there are no cracks or damage to the mount assembly or support assembly.
