Using special extractor tool (Fig. 302), carefully pull out readout lamps from the chassis.
C. Install Numerical Displays
(1)
Position display over receptacle so that connector pins are aligned.
(2)
Press display connector pins into receptacle until display is firmly seated.
CAUTION: USE EXTREME CARE NOT TO BEND DISPLAY CONNECTOR PINS.

(3) Install panel assembly and knobs.
9. Test CDU Lamps (DELCO INS) (ATLAS ALL EXCEPT IB 406-499)

A. Provide instrument panel lighting power (33-11-00).
B. On CDU, check that illuminated panel and all data keys (including CLEAR) light when panel lighting power is applied to forward and aft control stand electronic panels.
C. Vary intensity of control stand panel lighting and observe that
illuminated panel and all data keys on CDU vary accordingly.
D. Check that mode selector switch (panel P5) is in any "on" position.
E. Set CDU data selector switch to the POS position.
WARNING: IF TEST SWITCH IS PRESSED WHILE PI IS GREATER THAN 6 (RIGHT
_______ DISPLAY, FIFTH DIGIT), DATA SELECTOR IS NOT IN DSTRK/STS AND MODE IS NOT NAV, THE AUTOPILOT IS AUTOMATICALLY SENT A COMMAND FOR RIGHT BANK. IF AUTOPILOT AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS ARE OPERATING, FLIGHT SURFACE MOVEMENT COULD OCCUR, ENDANGERING PERSONNEL.
F. Momentarily press CDU TEST switch. While switch is depressed, observe that:

All control key and annunciator lamps illuminate.
(2)
Left-hand data display is indicating 88.88.8N/S.
(3)
Right-hand data display is indicating 888.88.8E/W.
(4)
FROM-TO display is indicating 8 8.

(5) Intensity of all lamps in steps (1) through (4) varies when the CDU DIM knob is turned.
NOTE: This does not apply to the BAT and WARN annunciator lamps.

Set CDU data selector switch to HDG/DA position and observe; 1) degree symbol in both displays moves to right of last 8 and 2) decimal in right-hand display disappears.
(7)
Set CDU data selector switch to XTK/TKE position and observe in left-hand display that decimal symbol moves one digit left and degree symbol disappears.
G. On ATLAS ALL EXCEPT IB 406-499,
if INS is no longer needed, set mode selector switches to OFF.
10. Replace Display Degrees, Arc Minutes and Decimal Lamps (LITTON INS)______________________________________________________ (IB 406-499)
A. Equipment and Materials
(1) Lamp, 5V - Lamps, Inc.. P/N T34-213, Bipin Special or Aero Products, P/N 500009-1
B. Remove Decimal/Degree Mark Lamps
(1)
Remove knobs and panel assembly.
(2)
Apply a single layer of masking tape (or equivalent) to lamp and use tweezers or combination pliers to pull lamp straight out from CDU.
C. Install Decimal/Degree Mark Lamps
(1) Insert lamp connector pins into receptacle sockets.
CAUTION: USE EXTREME CARE NOT TO BEND LAMP CONNECTOR PINS.

Press lamp firmly into socket.
(3)
Install panel assembly and knobs.
11. Test CDU Lamps (LITTON INS) IB 406-499)______________
A. Provide instrument panel lighting power (33-11-00).
B. On CDU, check that illuminated panel and all data keys (including CLEAR) light when panel lighting power is applied to forward and aft control stand electronic panels.
C. Vary intensity of control stand panel lighting and observe that
illuminated panel and all data keys on CDU vary accordingly.
D. Check that mode selector switch (panel P5) is in any "on" position.
E. Set CDU AUTO/MAN/RMT (Automatic-Manual-Remote Loading) switch to MAN.
F. Position MSU mode selector to STBY.
G. On IB 406-409,
place the control display unit data selector to POS, check that:
(1)
Red, amber and green lamps do not illuminate.
(2)
Left-hand data display is all zeros and an N.
(3)
FROM/TO display is 0 0.
(4)
Program number 72-28 is displayed in the right-hand data display and the INSERT pushbutton illuminates. For the complete program number 0 is displayed in the right-ahnd display when the HOLD pushbutton is pressed.
