3. System Test - Weather Radar System
__________________________________
A. For the tests involving the display of radar video (echoes from terrain, rainfall, etc.), the airplane should be pointed so antenna sector scan includes hills or mountains preferably at various heights in the distance.
B. A stabilization test using tilt tables is performed to verify proper system operation. In addition, a stabilization test utilizing the self-test features of the weather radar system may be performed during the weather radar system operational test.
C. The system test procedures consist of the following individual tests.

Stabilization Test (Using Tilt Table)

(a) Observe all instructions, cautions and warnings in the operational test.
F. Test Weather Radar
(1)
Perform system operational test (Ref 34-43-00 A/T).
(2)
Mode Test
(a)
Check mode messages are present in upper left-hand of indicator when the following weather radar modes are selected with the weather radar control panel mode selector switch. 1) TEST - TEST mode message 2) WX - WX mode message 3) On SN 352-399,
TURB - TURB mode message 4) MAP - MAP mode message
(b)
On control panel, place SYS switch to 2 and repeat test for system 2.
(c)
If no further tests of weather radar are required, perform Weather Radar System Shutdown Procedure.
(3)
Indicator Display Test
(a)
Place control panel mode select switch to WX. Check WX message is displayed in upper left of indicators.
(b)
Obtain well defined radar returns on indicators by adjusting control panel tilt control.
(c)
Set each indicator range switch to position radar returns in approximate center of indicator.
(d)
Indicators should have following information displayed:
