(a)
The display from 0 to 50 nautical miles should be composed of five video bands in the order; green, yellow, red, yellow, green. A malfunction in either the R/T or the antenna which activates the T/R or ANT fault lamp(s) on the R/T will also cause the disappearance of the video test bands in the TEST mode.
(b)
The display from 50 to 100 nautical miles should be dark with light noise (green) between the -30 degrees and +30 degrees azimuth lines. This display sector indicates an operational STC circuit.
(c)
The display from 100 to 180 nautical miles is dark with light noise (green) occurring outside the -30 degrees to +30 degrees sector. Within this sector, the tunnel diode amplifier (TDA) is turned off and no noise should be visible.
(18)
A VSWR fault will cause a periodic break-up in the indicator display.
(19)
AF 157, 161; AZ 201-224, Partially cover photocell (if provided) at top of each indicator and observe that display brightness decreases.
(a) Operate TILT control on control panel over its full range of 15.UP and 15. DN. Observe that TILT monitor on indicator tracks TILT control.
(20)
At control panel, select system 2 by placing system (R/T) transfer switch to 2.
(21)
Repeat range checks and test pattern checks for system 2.
(22)
If the system tests are to be performed, proceed to the system test procedures. If the system tests are not to be performed, perform the following shutdown procedures:
(a)
At radar control panel, select system 1 on system (R/T) select switch.
(b)
Rotate indicator BRT or BRIGHTNESS controls fully counterclockwise.
(c)
At radar control panel, set antenna TILT to 0 degree.
(d)
At radar control panel, select OFF mode to shutdown radar system prior to shutting down the INS system. If no further use of the INS system is anticipated, shut down properly per 34-41-00 prior to removing power from INS system or airplane.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO SELECT "OFF" ON INS MODE SELECTOR PRIOR TO
_______ REMOVING AIRPLANE POWER WILL CAUSE INS TO AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO BATTERY POWER.
(23) Remove electrical power if no longer required. Refer to 24-22-00.
