 A.  There are two tasks in this subject. The first task is the removal of the distance measuring equipment (DME) antenna. The second task is for the installation of the DME antenna.
 B.  The left and right DME antennas are installed on the bottom of the fuselage on the centerline. The left DME antenna (B83) is installed at station 690. The right DME antenna (B84) is installed at station 830.

 2.  DME Antenna Removal (Fig. 401)

 (1)  Sealant removal tool - hardwood or plastic

 (1)  Open these circuit breakers and attach D0-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7B8 NAV RADIO DME L
 2) 7B19 NAV RADIO DME R

Remove the aerodynamic smoother from around the edge of the DME antenna (AMM 51-31-01/201).

 (3)  
Remove the DME Antenna:

 (a)  Remove the fasteners from the DME antenna.
 WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE THE SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL TO BREAK
_______ THE SEAL. TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE SKIN, THE ANTENNA'S ELECTRICAL CABLE, OR THE ANTENNA.
 (b)  Break the seal around the antenna with the sealant removal tool.

Pull the antenna directly and carefully away from the surface of the airplane to get access to the coaxial connector.

 (d)  
Disconnect the coaxial connector from the antenna.

 (a)  Remove the old sealant from the airplane skin in the antenna area.
