By entering the company route number below the CO ROUTE header the FMC automatically compiles the data corresponding to the selected route from the data base. It then fills various page formats with the appropriate data which will include ORIGIN and DEST .
(b)
The route can also be entered manually through the RTE 1 page. This is done by entering the orgin and destination airports through the use of the CDU keyboard. The rest of the route plan can then be entered. The FMC will search for the entered waypoints to see whether they exist in the navigational data base. If a waypoint does not exist in the data base the FMC will not accept that entered waypoint.

Performance Initialization
(a)
The PERF INIT page can be accessed by pressing the INIT/REF mode key when on the ground and the IRS position has been initalized; by pressing the PERF INIT Line selection from ACT RTE page; or by pressing PERF line selection from INDEX.
(b)
The PERF page provides a means of entering information which pertains to the calculations of vertical profile targets.
(c)
This information consists of GROSS WT, FUEL, ZFW, CRZ ALT, RESERVES, COST INDEX, SPARE ENG and STEP SIZE.
(d)
When the GROSS WT is entered, the Zero Fuel Weight (ZFW) will automatically be calculated and shown and visa versa.

THRUST LIMIT initalization
(a)
The THRUST LIMIT page can be accessed by line selection from the INIT/REF INDEX, PERF INIT, TAKEOFF REF or APPROACH REF pages.
(b)
The THRUST LIM page provides for entry of an assumed temperature for added derate capabilities for TO, CLB and CRZ modes. The THRUST LIM page also provides selection for the different derate modes. These modes are as follows: 1) TO 2) TO 1 (if this option is set) 3) TO 2 (if this option is set) 4) TO B (if option is selected) 5) CLB 6) CLB 1 7) CLB 2 8) CRZ 9) CRZ 1 10) CRZ 2
(c)
The derate modes will be displayed with the corresponding derate values. These values will be a defaulted fixed value propagated from the performance data base.

Takeoff Reference Initalization
(a) The TAKEOFF REF page can be accessed through the INDEX, PERF INIT, RTE or THRUST LIM pages by pressing the TAKEOFF line select key.

(b) The TAKEOFF REF page displays FMC calculated takeoff speeds, takeoff thrust and crew entered and/or default takeoff data. 1) The data on the TAKEOFF REF relates to incomplete preflight
actions, vertical speeds for reference and transmission to PFD and entering and displaying takeoff conditions and takeoff vertical profile.

Departure Initialization
(a)
Access of the DEPARTURES page can be accomplished through the DEP/ARR mode key while airplane is on the ground, line select key on the DEP/ARR INDEX page and PREV or NEXT PAGE while in DEPARTURE pages.
(b)
The DEPARTURE pages provide a list of departure procedures related to the selected airport in which the pilot selects.
(c)
When a page is selected, a complete alphabetic list of SIDS contained in the data base for the selected airport is displayed. If a runway is selected, SIDS for that runway will be displayed.

Verify Initalization
(a)
In order to verify the initialization, press the INIT REF mode key.
(b)
Select the TAKEOFF line select key from the INIT/REF INDEX page.
(c)
The header line for 6R will display dashes if the initialization is complete. If not, PRE-FLT will be displayed with prompts which are listed in a logical order so that pre-flight initialization can be accomplished in an orderly sequence.
(d)
These prompts will be: 1) POS INIT - until IRS positions are valid. 2) ROUTE- until route is active. 3) PERF-INIT - until gross weight (or zero fuel weight),
reserves, cost index and cruise altitude are entered.
(e)
Subsequent to the above entries being made, THRUST LIM is displayed in this field.

Restore to normal
(a)
Position the IRS mode key to OFF.
