The master control station directs all operations in the control segment. It continuously receives the data collected by the monitor stations. This data is used to formulate the navigation message which contains individual orbital parameters and clock corrections for all satellites. The navigation message is relayed to the satellites three times a day by the upload stations.
B. Control
(1) Do these steps to put the system in operation.
(a)
Close the MMR L and MMR R circuit breakers on the P7 panel.
(b)
Check GPS operation. 1) Push the INIT REF key on one of the FMCS CDUs. 2) Push the line select key (LSK) that is adjacent to <INDEX. 3) Push the line select key (LSK) adjacent to <POS. 4) Push the PREV PAGE key on the CDU. 5) Make sure that the POS REF 3/3 page shows the position of
GPS L and GPS R.
NOTE: It can take up to 10 minutes for GPS data to be
____ displayed on the CDU.
(c) If the GPS position is not displayed after 10 minutes, check to see if the GPS is enabled. 1) Push the PREV PAGE key on the CDU. 2) Make sure that the prompt below GPS NAV reads INHIBIT> on
the POS REF 2/3 page.
3) If the prompt below GPS NAV reads ENABLE>, push the
adjacent lsk.
4) Make sure that the prompt changes to read INHIBIT>.
5) Push the NEXT PAGE key on the CDU.
6) Make sure that the POS REF 3/3 page shows the position of
GPS L and GPS R.
