The FMC must contain these pieces of software:
(a)
Operational program (OPS)
(b)
Operational program configuration (OPC) database
(c)
Navigational database (NDB).
(3)
You can load the navigational database into the left FMC and then do the FMC navigational database crossload procedure.
(4)
If you install a new operational program, the databases are deleted. You must install all the databases again after the operational program is installed.
(5)
When new operational program software (OPS) is installed the performance factors return to the default values for the production airplane.

(3) Do these steps to install the FMC software:
(a)
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
1) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel a) 7C1, FMCS FMC L b) 7C23, FMCS FMC R
(b)
Set the selector switches for the data loader to the applicable positions (L FMC or R FMC).
NOTE: To load software into the left FMC, set the selector
____ switches to the L FMC position. Set the selector switches to the R FMC position if you will load software into the right FMC.
(c)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close the circuit breaker for the FMC that will receive new software from the data loader: 1) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
a) 7C1, FMCS FMC L
b) 7C23, FMCS FMC R
(d)
Put the correct software diskette into the disk drive of the data loader. The FMC automatically starts the data load sequence.
NOTE: When new operational program software is installed the
____ performance factors return to the default values for the production airplane.
1) AIRPLANES WITH FMC LOAD 14 OPS AND PREVIOUS; When you replace all the FMC software, load the software in this sequence, OPS then NDB.

2) When you must replace the OPC, or NDB, or the OPC and NDB, this is the only software that needs to be loaded into the FMC.
(e) Make sure the RDY and PROG indicators come on.
NOTE: It can be from 3 seconds to 3 minutes before the PROG
____
indicator comes on.
(f) Make sure that after approximately twelve minutes the COMP indicator comes on and the RDY and PROG indicators go off.
NOTE: The COMP indication lets you know that the software
____ transfer is completed. If the CHNG indicator comes on, it shows that one more diskette is necessary for a data load to be completed.
(g)
Push the eject key to remove the diskette.
(h)
If you installed an operational program (OPS), repeat the steps to install each database.
