(e)
The system source (VOR L or VOR R) is displayed in the upper right corner of the display.
(f)
For VOR NCD, the frequency/identifier and selected course numeric displays are replaced with green dashes. The select course arrow, TO/FROM annunciator, course deviation bar, bearing pointers and frequency are removed. The NAV data source annunciations are displayed.
(g)
For VOR failure warning, the frequency/identifier and selected course numeric displays are removed. The TO/FROM annunciation, selected course arrow, course deviation bar, course deviation scales, bearing pointers and frequency are also removed. The VOR and bearing pointer flags and the NAV data source annunciations are displayed.
E. Functional Description - Self-Test Displays (Fig. 6)
(1)
During a system self-test the receiver outputs a sequence of three data modes for display on the flight instruments:
(a)
Invalid data (failure warning) for approximately 3 seconds
(b)
No computed data (NCD) for approximately 2 seconds
(c)
Valid data - VOR for approximately 5 seconds.
(2)
If the test is initiated by the TEST button on the front panel of the VOR/MKR receiver, the LCD on the front panel will show a pass or fail condition. If the test is initiated by a request from the CMC, a PASS or FAIL message will appear on the CDU.
(3)
Prepare for self-test
(a)
Set the mode select switch on the EFIS control panel to the VOR position.
(b)
Set the left ADF/VOR select switch on the EFIS control panel to the VOR L position.
(c)
Set the right ADF/VOR select switch on the EFIS control panel to the VOR R position.
(4)
Initiate a self-test of the left or right VOR by one of the two following methods:
(a) Initiate the test using the TEST button on the front panel of the VOR/MKR receiver: 1) Press and release the TEST button on the left or right
receiver.

(b) Initiate the test through the CMC:
1) See the ground test in the VOR navigation system adjustment/test (Ref 34-51-00/501).
(5) Self-test results
(a) The receiver outputs VOR test information. This data is used to produce the following displays on the NDs: 1) A failure warning display occurs for 3 seconds:
a) The course deviation bar is out of view b) The TO/FROM annunciator is out of view.
2) An NCD display occurs for approximately 2 seconds: a) The course deviation scale is out of view b) The VOR R flag comes into view c) The VOR R bearing pointer flag comes into view.
3) After 5 seconds, until the end of the test: a) The VOR flags are out of view b) NAV data source and frequency appear c) TO/FROM annunciator shows FROM d) The bearing pointer shows 180 |2 degrees e) The course deviation scale and bar come into view f) The course deviation bar is aligned with the course
arrow.
(b) If the test was initiated using the TEST switch on the front panel of the VOR/MKR receiver, then push and release either one of the TEST switch on the front panel. The LCD screen will display the following test sequence: 1) The TEST IN PROGRESS display is shown on the LCD screen. 2) The test continues for approximately 5 seconds. 3) The TEST COMPLETE NO FAILURES display on the LCD screen to
indicate the test was successful. 4) The TEST COMPLETE FAILURES display on the LCD screen for the test fail condition. 5) If the test fail condition has occurred, then push and release the WHY switch to display the failure messages.
F. Control
