The first five characters in the first line of the display are reserved for an identifier. This identifier indicates whether the data on the page being displayed is the active flight plan or the modified flight plan.

The next 14 characters on the first line of the display are reserved for the page title.

The remaining five characters are reserved for the page number.

The 24 characters on the 14th line of the display are reserved for scratchpad entries. These entries will be made through the alphanumeric keys on the keyboard. Alerting and advisory messages will also appear in the scratchpad field.
(e)
The remainder of the display (twelve 24-character lines) is used for displaying the operational data as well as the MENU page, which allows entry into other functional options.
Line Select Keys (LSK)
(a)
There are 12 LSKs, six on either side of the CRT. These LSKs enable the selection or entry of data into the adjacent fields on the CRT.
CDU Annunciator Lights
(a)
There are four annunciator lights displayed on the CDUs front panel. They are as follows: DSPY - Current display selected in not the engaged FMCS
mode
FAIL - Selected FMC has failed
MSG - CDU message alert
OFST - Parallel offset in use

Two annunciators are located to the left of the alphanumeric
keys and the other two are located to the right.The keyboard contains function, mode and line select keys as well as a full set of alphanumeric keys.Function keys
(a)
The EXEC (execute) key is the command key for the FMC. It is used for flight plan activation, flight plan modification and vertical guidance mode modifications.
(b)
The PREV PAGE and NEXT PAGE keys cause the CDU to display the next lower or higher page number, respectively. These keys can only be used when the particular CDU display has more than one page. This is indicated by a displayed page number in the upper right corner of the CRT. If the last page is displayed and the NEXT PAGE key is pressed, the first page will be displayed. If the first page is displayed and the PREV PAGE key is pressed, the last page will be displayed.
Mode keys
(a)
The INIT/REF (initialization/reference) key allows access to the pages which enable entry for IRS and FMC initialization. It also accesses pages for reference data. The pages accessible through the INIT/REF key are IDENT, POS, PERF, THRUST LIM and TAKEOFF.
