3. VOR/LOC Antenna
_______________
A. One dual-channel VOR/LOC antenna is used to supply VOR ground station rf signal to the left and right VOR/MKR receivers. The antenna also supplies localizer rf to the ILS receivers through the respective left and right VOR/LOC rf power dividers prior to the approach mode of operation during an ILS approach (Ref 34-31-00).
B. The VOR/LOC antenna is located on the vertical stabilizer tip.
4. VOR/LOC RF Power Divider

A. Two VOR/LOC rf power dividers are used to supply rf signals received by the VOR/LOC antenna to the VOR/MKR receivers and to the ILS receivers (Ref 34-31-00). The output of the left VOR/LOC rf power divider supplies signals to the left VOR/MKR receiver. The output of the right VOR/LOC rf power divider supplies signals to the right VOR/MKR receiver.
B. The left and right VOR/LOC rf power dividers are located in the E1 electronics equipment rack in the main equipment center. They are located at the left end of the No. 6 shelf.
5. VOR Navigation System Interfacing Systems

A. The VOR navigation system interfaces with the following systems:

Integrated Display System (Ref 31-61-00)

Flight Management Computer System (Ref 34-61-00)
B. Flight Management Computer System (FMCS)
(1)
Components of the FMCS that interface with the VOR navigation system are the:
(a)
Control display unit
(b)
FMC select switch
(2)
Control Display Unit (CDU)
(a)
The CDU is used as an input/output device for various electronic systems. It can be used to manually tune the VOR/MKR receivers through the FMCs or as backup tuning when both FMCs have failed and to initiate system self-tests through the central maintenance computer (CMC).
