AIRBORNE DATA LOADER-REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is to remove the Airborne Data Loader (ADL).
B. The second task is to install the ADL. This task includes a test of the ADL.
C. The airborne data loader is installed in the P11 first observer's console panel.

2. Airborne Data Loader (ADL) Removal__________________________________
A. Access
(1) Location Zone
222 Control Cabin, RH
B. Procedure

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR THE DATA BASE LOADER IS OPEN BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE ADL. DAMAGE TO THE ADL CAN OCCUR.
(1) Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
1) 6L35 FMCS DATA BASE

(2) Put the plastic head protection diskette in the ADL.

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE ADL.
_______ IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE FROM YOUR BODY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ADL.
(3) Remove the ADL:
(a)
Release the fasteners on the front of the ADL.
(b)
Pull out the ADL carefully until you can get access to the electrical connector on the rear of the ADL.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the ADL.

(d) Install the dust caps on the electrical connectors.

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE ADL.
_______ IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE FROM YOUR BODY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ADL.
(1) Install the ADL:
(a)
Remove the dust caps from the electrical connectors.
(b)
Examine the ADL's electrical connector for loose, dirty, bent, or broken pins.
(c)
Connect the electrical connector to the ADL.
(d)
Put the ADL carefully into its mounting bracket.
NOTE: The data loader should be installed so that the handle

is on top.
(e) Lock the fasteners on the front of the ADL.

Do the "Supply Electrical Power" task (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Prepare the data loader:
(a)
Make sure the data load select switch, on the P11 first observer's panel, is in the NORM position.
