(h) Flap retraction hieght (ACCEL HT)
1) The ACCEL HT entry will determine the engine out and all engine flap retraction heights (feet above ground level) at which acceleration shall begin VNAV for flap retraction. Allowable entries will be two, three or four digit numbers between 400 and 999 which will be separated by a slash.
K. Performance Option Codes
(1) The PERF FACTORS page provides selection of an option code. This option code is representative of all the options selected for a particular airplane. The option code will have a default value of 000000000004. If for example operational software was loaded into the left FMC and the right FMC was powered up after the left FMC, both FMCs will have an option code of 000000000004. If the right FMC was powered up before the left FMC then the left FMC would resync to the right and both FMCs would contain the correct option code provided the right FMC previously contained the correct option code.
8. Guidance________
A. General (Fig. 34)
(1)
The FMC's guidance function utilizes data from the navigation and performance function as well as inputs through the CDU. This data is used for computations of lateral and vertical guidance of the airplane.
(2)
The guidance function transmits pitch and roll commands to the flight control computer for airplane maneuvering. It also sends the guidance thrust commands to the FMC's thrust management function.
B. Flight Plans
(1)
The FMC software contains two flight plans, the primary and alternate flight plans. Either flight plan can be termed the active flight plan by a positive action on the CDU.
(2)
The active flight plan is that flight plan in which the airplane is tracking . Modifications to the active flight plan may be made through a positive action by the pilot on the CDU.
(3)
Primary and alternate flight plans are assembled by the FMC through data received from the Navigation Data Base (NDB) or throught pilot entry. The flight plan is realized through the assembly of no more than one hundred and twenty waypoints. The last waypoint passed during flight will be retained. All other passed waypoints will be deleted so that assembly of the remaining flight plan may continue.
(4)
The FMC will provide for the assignment of altitudes and airspeeds along the flight plan, as well as clearance altitudes which are not constrained to waypoints.
(5)
The guidance function also provides the capability for insertions of holding patterns at any designated point and selection of a parallel offset path.
