 D. CMC
 (1)  
The central maintenance computer (CMC) interfaces the DME system using an ARINC 429 bus via an electrical connector located on the rear of the interogator. The CMC instructs the interrogator to self-test by sending the interrogator a n ARINC 429 data word to self-test. The results for the DME interrogator are then sent to the EIUs and onto the CMC in an encoded ARINC 429 data word. Other faults related to the DME system are monitored and stored for future reference. Results are then processed by the CMC and presented to flight deck displays and on the CDU as required. For a detailed description of the CMC, see reference AMM 45-10-00/001.
