C. Procedure

(1) Make sure these circuit breakers are open with DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
(a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7B8 NAV RADIO DME L
2) 7B19 NAV RADIO DME R

(2) Open the 117AL electronics compartment access door to get to the DME interrogator (Ref 06-09-01/201).

CAUTION: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DME INTERROGATOR. A FAILURE TO DO THE STEPS CORRECTLY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

Do the "ESDS Shelf-Mounted Component Installation" task to install the applicable DME interrogator from the E2-2 shelf (Ref 20-41-02/201).

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7B8 NAV RADIO DME L
2) 7B19 NAV RADIO DME R

Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

(6) Push and release either one of the TEST pushbuttons on the front panel of the left DME interrogator.
(a) The LCD display screen on the front panel of the interrogators shows the system status as follows: 1) DME TEST IN PROGRESS is displayed for five seconds. 2) DME TEST COMPLETE NO FAILURES displays that the
interrogator has passed the BITE selt-test. 3) DME TEST COMPLETE FAILURES displays that the interrogator failed the BITE self-test.
4) Push the right switch under WHY to find out what the failures are ? And either one of these message will be occured : a) DME OK EXTERNAL FAILURES PRESENT displays that the
interrogator has passed the BITE self-test but ARINC 429 data is invalid or missing from either the FMC or online CDU.
b) DME FAILED EXTERNAL FAILURES PRESENT displays that the interrogator failed the BITE self-test and ARINC 429 data is invalid or missing from either the FMC or online CDU.
c) DME FAILED displays that the interrogator failed the BITE self-test.

Close the 117AL electronics compartment access door if access is not necessary (Ref 06-09-01/201).

Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (Ref 24-22-00/201).
