The DEP/ARR (departure/arrival) key will display the departure page for the origin airport when an active route is displayed on the CDU and the airplanes is on the ground. If an active route is displayed and the airplane is in flight but less than 400 miles from the origin airport then the arrival page to that origin airport will be displayed. If the airplane is in flight and greater than 400 miles away or more than half way along the route, a listing of arrival procedures for the destination airport will be displayed. Procedures can then be line selected into the route. If there is no active route or leg displayed then an index page will be displayed. The LEGS key will provide detailed data for each leg in the flight plan. It also allows for detailed data entry for each leg in the flight plan. The RTE (route) key provides access to the route pages. There are two types of routes, primary route and alternate route. A route can be termed active if the route is being used by the guidance function. The other, is termed the inactive route. Both active and inactive routes can be modified through the CDU and if so, are termed modified active routes. The route page displayed, subsequent to pressing the RTE key, depends upon several factors. 1) If a modified active or pending activation route exists,
RTE page 1/X for the modified active or pending activation route is displayed.
 2)  If the RTE, RTE LEGS, RTE HOLD, RTE DATA or winds page is displayed before selection of RTE, the RTE page 1/X for the same route is displayed.
 3) If a route is active RTE page 1/X for the active route is displayed 4) If none of the preceding conditions exist then RTE page 1/X
for the primary route is displayed. The VNAV key provides access to the climb (CLB), cruize (CRZ) and descent (DES) pages. When the VNAV key is pressed, the page which will be displayed corresponds to the airplane's performance mode at that time. These modes are CLB, CRZ and DES with their respective page numbers of 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3. The CLB page will be displayed while airplane is on the ground and the VNAV key is selected. The HOLD key provides for definition of a holding pattern at any designated waypoint or at present position. The FIX key allows for the creation of waypoint fixes from the intersection points between the present route and selected radials or distances from known waypoints. The selected radials and arcs are displayed on the ND map display. The PROG (progress) key displays data pertaining to the current dynamic flight and navigation information. This data consists of distance to go (DTG), estimated time of arrival (ETA), and fuel remaining. Data related to crew entered alternate destinations can be obtained for comparative purposes.
