(2) Do a BITE test of the applicable ATC antenna before you apply the aerodynamic smoother.
(a)
Set the transponder select switch on the ATC control panel to the 1 or L position.
(b)
Push and release the TEST switch on the front panel of the transponder (ATC No. 1).
(c)
Make sure the SELF TEST passes.

(d) Make sure the antenna fail lights on the transponder are off.
(3) S 864-018Make sure these circuit breakers are open with DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached. (a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel 1) 7B10 NAV RADIO ATC L 2) 7B22 NAV RADIO ATC R
(4) S 424-023Complete the ATC antenna installation: (a) Apply the aerodynamic smoother BMS 5-95, around the antenna base and to the head of cad screw (Ref 51-31-01/201). (b) Use a spatula to apply the compound to a smooth 45-degree angle.
NOTE:____ Make sure no air is caught in the aerodynamic smoother when you apply it. Use sufficient aerodynamic smoother to seal the antenna base.
1) 2) Remove the unwanted sealant from around the antenna base.Let the sealant dry until it is hard.
(5) S 864-087Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (Ref 24-22-00/201).

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) ANTENNA RF TRANSFER RELAY - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has two tasks. The first task is the removal of the ATC antenna RF transfer relay. The second task is the installation of the ATC antenna RF transfer relay. The installation task includes an operational test to be done after you install the transfer relay. The ATC antenna RF transfer relay will be refered to as the antenna transfer relay in this procedure.
B. The top and bottom antenna transfer relays B872 and B871, are installed on shelf No. 3 of the E2 rack. The E2 rack is in the main equipment center.

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7B10 NAV RADIO ATC L
2) 7B22 NAV RADIO ATC R
3) 7B23 NAV RADIO ATC ANTENNA SW

Remove the left ATC transponder if it is necessary
(Ref 34-53-02/401).

Remove the right air data computer if it is necessary (Ref 34-12-01/401).

Remove the antenna transfer relay (Fig 401):
(a)
Disconnect connectors DB871A, DB871B, DB871C, and DB871D for the removal of the bottom antenna transfer relay (B871).
(b)
Disconnect connectors DB872A, DB872B, DB872C, and DB872D for removal of the top antenna transfer relay (B872).
(c)
Remove and keep the screws, washers, and nuts that attach the relay to the support bracket.
(d)
Remove the applicable antenna transfer relay.
