(4) Alternate Navigation
(a)
When both FMCs have failed, the CDU provides alternate navigation functions through the LEGS and PROGRESS pages. The ACT IRS LEGS page will be displayed when the LEGS mode key is selected and the onside FMC has failed. This page provides a means of entering and displaying details of each leg of the route.
(b)
The IRS PROGRESS page will be displayed when the PROG mode key is selected and both FMCs have failed. This page will display information related to the progress of the flight.
5. FMCS/Integrated Display System (IDS) Interface

A. General
(1)
The Integrated Display System (IDS) consists of the Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) and the Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS). These two systems display EFIS and EICAS information, for the flight crew, on stroke and raster written multicolor Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs).
(2)
The IDS receives display data from various airplane systems. The IDS formats this incoming information and displays it on six Display Units (DUs). These DUs display information relating to navigation, engine information and crew alerting and status messages. The DUs comprise the Primary Flight Display (PFD), the Navigation Display (ND) and the EICAS display.
(3)
The EFIS consists of the PFD which displays attitude, flight director, altitude and airspeed information and the ND which displays navigation and weather radar information.
(4)
The EICAS consists of two DUs, the main EICAS and the auxilary EICAS. The main EICAS displays information relating to primary engine data and crew alerting messages. The auxilary EICAS displays either secondary engine data, maintenance pages, synoptic displays or status messages.
(5)
The FMCS contributes navigation data for the ND and airspeed data for the PFD. The EICAS receives thrust modes from the FMC for display as well as EPR references calculated by the FMCs thrust-management function.
B. EICAS/FMC Display
(1) The EICAS displays FMC thrust management data. This data consists of thrust modes and referenced EPR values. The EICAS also displays FMC status and advisory messages.
C. EFIS/FMC Display
(1)
The EFIS consists of a PFD, ND and an EFIS control panel. The EFIS control panel allows for selection, by the crew, of display options. A large part of the EFIS CP selections affects the ND display.
(2)
The barometric display on the PFD can be either displayed in inches of mercury (INHG) or in Hectol-Pascals (HPa) depending upon the selection on the EFIS CP.
(3)
The ND options are MAP or Plan (PLN) modes (Fig. 27), display range selection (10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 and 640nm) and display of additional information on the following:
(a) Weather radar (WXR)
