(2) Prepare the floor panels for the waterseal if the waterseal has been removed.
(a)
Do the steps that follow to clean the floor panels: 1) Apply solvent with a clean oil-free gauze, or cheesecloth. 2) Rub the surface to remove the soil. 3) Use a clean gauze or cheesecloth to remove the remaining
solvent before it evaporates.
(b)
Protect the floor tracks against corrosion (SRM 51-20-01).
(c)
After you clean the floor panels do not get it dirty before you apply the waterseal.
D. Install the Entry and Service Area Floor Covering
S 424-024
(1) Do these steps to install the polyurethane tape waterseal before you install the mat (prefered method):
(a) Apply 4 inch wide polyurethane joint tape (Patco 809U) over all floor panel joints.
NOTE: Joint tape is applied only to joints between floor
____ panels and not to joints between floor panels and other structure including seat tracks, gutters, lav/galley mounts, crease beams, and partition walls.
(b) Apply 36 inch polyeurethane tape (3M 8663DL) over the entire wet area.
NOTE: Make sure that there is a minumium of one-inch

overlap of each strip.
(c)
Push the tape down firmly in all areas.
(d)
Apply additional strips of 4 inch wide polyurethane tape 3M 8663DL) over each area of overlap.
(e)
Apply 4 inch polyurethane tape (3M 8663DL) at the side of body crease beam to seal the floor panel edges: 1) Trim the waterseal tape to the edge of the floor panels at
the side of body.

2) Apply polyurethane tape over the sealant at the side of body to extend at least 1 inch onto the existing waterseal and above the top edge of the side of body crease beam chord.
3) Trim the Polyurethane tape to the top edge of the side of body beam chord.

(2) Do these steps to install the Permacel tape waterseal before you install the mat (optional method): (a) Apply 18-inch wide strips of Permacel 306 tape across the entire area perpendicular to the centerline of the airplane.
NOTE:____ Make sure there is a minimum of a one-inch overlap of each strip.
(b) (c) (d) (e) Push the tape down firmly in all areas.Roll or burnish the 1-inch overlap joint between the strips of tape with a minimum of 20 psi to make sure the joint is waterproof.Cover each overlap joint with 3-inch wide Permacel tape, centered over the edge of the overlap.Apply BMS 5-95 sealant to the edges of the tape, and any cracks and small holes, to make sure the waterseal and the adjacent structure has a complete seal.

(3) Do the steps that follow to install the entry area mat: (a) Cut the mat to the correct size.
NOTE:____ The direction to unroll the mat is perpendicular to the centerline of the airplane.
(b) Apply 2-inch wide double-back tape to the floor around the edge and approximately every four inches across the area to install the mat.
(c) (d) (e) Put sealant, BMS 5-95, into the edge retainers if it is necessary.Put the mat in the correct location and push firmly on the tape.Put the edges in the edge retainers before the sealant starts to get hard.

(4) Put the carpets in the edge retainers for the mats.

(5) Install or tighten the thresholds if it is necessary.
