3. Carpet Installation (Fig. 401)

A. Access
(1) Location Zones
100 Upper Half of Fuslage
B. Install the Floor Carpet
S 424-007
(1) Apply the tape (1.5-inch wide) around the edge of the area that you install the carpet.
(a)
Install the tape 1.00 inch from the carpet edges.
(b)
For the touch-joint, install the tape 0.50 inch from the edge.

(2) Install the carpet in its position.
(a)
Move the edge of the outboard section above the air grille.
(b)
Make sure you install the section correctly to show the access and the view locations through the floor.

(3)
Attach the velcro tape strip at the forward and aft ends of the aisle section to the strip on the floor.

Install the seat track covers between the seats if it is necessary.
C. Install the Sidewall Carpet.

(1) Replace the doubleback tape (2-inch wide) on the carpet riser panels if it is necessary.
(a)
Make sure the edge of the tape is 1.0 inch from the top and bottom of the installed carpet segment.
(b)
Install the vertical strip of the tape (1-inch wide) at the aft end of the carpet segment.
NOTE: The carpet segment installed immediately forward of the

aft service door.

(2) Put the carpet into its position on the carpet riser panel with the top edge below the sidewall window panels.
(a) Push tightly against the doubleback tape.

(3) Put the air return grille into its position and attach it with the quick-release fasteners.

ENTRY AND SERVICE AREA FLOOR COVERING - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is the removal of the floor covering in the entry and service area. The second task is the installation of the floor covering in the entry and service area.
B. The entry and service area mat attaches to the floor waterseal with 2-inch wide double-back tape. Mat edges are sealed and attached with various edge retainers.
C. The waterseal provided for corrosion prevention of the entry, galley and lavatory areas uses 18-inch wide Permacel 306 tape applied to the floor.
