ESCAPE SLIDE ASSEMBLY (DOOR-MOUNTED) - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. The escape slide assembly has three parts:
(1)
An escape slide compartment
(2)
An escape slide pack in the compartment
(3)
Escape slide floor brackets.
B. This procedure has seven tasks for the escape slide:

Latch Cable Assembly Inspection.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GIRT BAR IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE FLOOR
_______ BRACKET. IF THE GIRT BAR IS ATTACHED, THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN INFLATE ACCIDENTALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Remove the Escape Slide Assembly.
(a)
Loosen the two quarter-turn fasteners or remove the screws from the escape slide assembly.
(b)
Pull the top of the assembly inboard until it is clear of the door structure.

(c) Lift the escape slide assembly to disengage the fitting from the bottom support bracket.

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE SAFETY PIN. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE SAFETY PIN, THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN INFLATE ACCIDENTALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(2) Install the safety pin into the valve regulator housing of the air bottle.

3. Escape Slide Assembly Installation (Fig. 201)__________________________________
A. General
(1) The escape slide assemblies for the forward and aft doors are not the same.
(a) The escape slide assembly for the aft or forward door is identified in black letters with "FOR USE ON MODEL 737 (AFT OR FORWARD) DOORS ONLY" and must show just below the left side of the girt bar on the escape slide girts.

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE SAFETY PIN FROM THE VALVE REGULATOR HOUSING. THE ESCAPE SLIDE WILL NOT OPERATE IF THE SAFETY PIN IS IN THE REGULATOR HOUSING.
(1)
Remove the safety pin from the valve regulator of the air bottle.

(2)
Install the escape slide assembly.
(a)
Put the fitting, on the outboard side of the escape slide assembly, in the bottom support bracket on the door.
(b)
Push the top of the escape slide assembly against the door.
