SIDEWALL AND CEILING INSULATION - REPAIRS

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The repair of the Blankets and Covers
(2)
The replacement of the Extensive Damaged Insulation Blanket
B. If the damage area is more than 25 percent of the total blanket area, replace it. Use the damage blanket as an example to make the new blanket.
C. The data that follows is applicable to the repair of the sidewall and the ceiling insulation blankets. These blankets are installed in the passenger compartment.

G00087 Insulation Cover, Self-Extinguishing - BMS 8-142, Type I (This material is used as the inboard and outboard cover for the insulation blankets installed throughout the passenger cabin.)

WARNING: DO NOT GET SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH, OR YOUR EYES, OR ON YOUR
_______ SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
(1) Clean the damaged area with the methyl ethyl ketone or acetone.
(a) Replace the blanket, if the damaged area is larger than 25% of the total blanket area.

(2) Cut a piece of equivalent fabric to bond the hole with the patch in the blanket or the cover.
(a) Extend the patches 0.75-1.50 inches more than the tear in all directions.
