(1)
Energize the ground service network
(Ref. TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2)
On the panel 25VU make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(3)
Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
(1)
Put the access platform in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Make sure that the light SW 11LJ is set to the ON position.

A. Installation of the Encoder
NOTE : If replacement of the encoder is required, make sure that an
____ encoder which has been pre-programmed with the correct APU Serial Number is installed.
(1)
Install the encoder (2) with the screws (3) the washers (5) and the nuts (4) to the bracket (6).
(2)
Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connector (1).
(3)
Install the electrical connector (1) to the encoder (2). Subtask 49-73-51-865-052

Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

Remove the access platform(s).

EXHAUST - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______ The APU exhaust system ducts the engine exhaust gas overboard. Its secondary function is to decrease the exhaust noise level. To keep aerodynamic losses during APU operation to a minimum, the duct has a sufficiently large diameter. Also, the exhaust system discharge is positioned at the very aft end of the aircraft, where a low pressure area is generated during flight. Thus it is also made sure that exhaust gas does not re-enter the APU air intake system.
