A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Energize the ground service network
(Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2)
On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(3)
Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that ground fire extinguishing equipment is available.
(5)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
(1)
Put the access platform below the APU compartment.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the ON position.

A. Removal of the Lube Pump Filter.
(1)
Disconnect the electrical connector (5) from the differential pressure switch.
(2)
Put the container below the oil filter housing (4).
(3)
Removal of the Lockwire: WARNING : CUT, REMOVE AND DISCARD THE LOCKWIRE AS YOU DO THE TASK.

LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT OR BLIND YOU.
-Remove and discard the lockwire from the filter housing (4).
(4)
Remove the filter housing (4) with the filter element (2).
(5)
Remove the filter element (2) from the filter housing (4).
(6)
Remove and discard the O-rings (1) and (3). Subtask 49-91-45-210-051
B.
Inspection Check of the old Lube Pump Filter Element.
(1) Make an inspection of the filter element (2) and the filter housing
(4) for the following contamination:
NOTE : Brass or silver-plated steel particles indicate possible
____ bearing failure. Copper wire particles, nonmetallic flakes and phenolic resin indicate possible AC generator failure.
-brass flakes or strips,
-silver-plated steel flakes or strips,
-large metallic flakes,
-copper wire particles,
-large nonmetallic flakes,
-phenolic resin.

C. Install the Lube Pump Filter.
(1)
Install the lube pump filter (2).
(2)
Apply a thin layer of OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new O-ring
(1) and install it on the new filter element (2).
(3)
Apply a thin layer of OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new O-ring
(3) and install it on the filter housing (4).
(4)
Put the new filter element (2) momentarily into OILS (Material No. 03-002) and install it into the filter housing (4).
(5)
Install the filter housing (4) with the assembled items and tighten by hand.
(6)
Safety the filter housing (4) with MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010).
(7)
Connect the electrical connector (5) to the differential pressure switch.
(8)
Do a visual check of the oil quantity in the APU. Add oil if the oil level is on or less than the ADD mark on the sight glass (Ref. TASK 49-90-00-600-001).
(9)
Perform Generator Scavenge Oil Filter Inspection (Ref. TASK 49-91-41-200-001).
(10) If you found in PARA 4.B. particles continue with PARA 4.D.. If you found in PARA 4.B. no paticles continue with PARA 4.E..

D. Inspection Check of the old Lube Pump Filter Element.
(1) If any of the in PARA 4.B. described debris is found, following procedure is necessary:
(a)
Remove the APU Generator (Ref. TASK 24-23-51-000-001).
(b)
Install a generator cover plate (Ref. TASK 49-11-00-400-002).
(c) Start and operate the APU.
(d)
Examine the new installed lube pump filter (2) and the generator filter for metal particles or other unwanted particles.
