Put the access platform below the APU compartment.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR and (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the ON position.

A. Removal and Inspection Check of the Magnetic Drain Plug.
(1)
Put the container to the position below the drain plug (1).
(2)
Push the drain plug (1) and turn it to remove from the gearbox.
(3)
Remove and discard the packing (2) from the drain plug (1).
(4)
Inspect the Magnetic Drain Plug (1) for signs of metal particles.
(5)
A small amount of thin metal slivers, swarf or fines is acceptable and the APU can continue in service.
NOTE : No silver material (silver-plated steel flakes) is permitted.

If metal particles (other than shiny metal) are moderately collected on the magnetic plug
-Clean and install the magnetic drain plug (Ref. TASK 49-91-42-400-003);
-Start and operate the APU for at least 15 minutes (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-008);
-Remove the magnetic drain plug (Ref. TASK 49-91-42-000-003) an do a check for metal particles.

If a medium quantity of particles, not including silver-plated steel, is found on the Magnetic Drain Plug, following procedures are necessary:
(a) Inspect the generator scavenge oil filter (Ref. TASK 49-91-41-200-002).
(b)
Inspect the lube pump oil filter (Ref. TASK 49-91-41-200-002). Subtask 49-91-42-420-055
B.
Installation of the Magnetic Drain Plug.
(1)
Lubricant the new packing (2) with OILS (Material No. 03-002)
(2)
Install the new O-ring (2) on the magnetic drain plug.
(3)
Install the magnetic drain plug in the gearbox.
(4)
Close the APU access doors (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001). Subtask 49-91-42-865-067
C.
Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD

D. Start and operate the APU.
(1)
Start the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-008).
(2)
Allow the APU to run for 5 minutes.
(3)
Shutdown the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-009).

Open the APU access doors 315AL/316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
