 4. Procedure

 (Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 49-94-15-991-001) Subtask 49-94-15-420-050
 A. Install the Oil Temperature Sensor.
 (1)
 Apply a thin layer of lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new O-ring (3).

 (2)
 Install the new O-ring (3) on the oil temperature-sensor (2).

 (3)
 Remove the blanking plug from the gearbox port.

 (4)
 Install the oil temperature-sensor (2).

 (5)
 TORQUE the oil temperature-sensor (2) to 80 lbf.in (0.90 m.daN).

 (6)
 Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connector (1).


 (7)
 Connect the electrical connector (1). Subtask 49-94-15-210-050

 B.
 Do a check of the oil quantity (Ref. TASK 49-90-00-600-007). Subtask 49-94-15-865-052

 C.
 Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD

 D. Do the BITE test of the oil sump temperature-sensor (Ref. TASK 31-32-00-860-001).

 E. Start and Operate the APU.
 (1)
 Close the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

 (2)
 Start the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-008).

 (3)
 Let the APU run for 5 minutes.

 (4)
 Shut down the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-009).

 (5)
 Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR.

 (6)
 Do a leak check of the Oil Temperature-Sensor.
 NOTE : No leaks are permitted.

 Re-torque the oil temperature sensor (2) to to 80 lbf.in (0.90 m.daN).

 B. Close Access
 (1)
 Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

 Remove the container.

 (3)
 Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the OFF position.

 (4)
 Close the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

 Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

 Pressurize the reservoirs of the hydraulic systems. (Ref. TASK 29-14-00-614-002).

 De-energize the ground service network
 (Ref. TASK 24-42-00-862-001).

 General

_______ The APU oil heater 2KT increases the temperature of the oil in the APU gearbox oil reservoir if the oil temperature is too low.

 3. System Description
__________________ An oil temperature switch, which is part of the APU oil heater, monitors the oil temperature in the reservoir of the APU gearbox. If the oil temperature decreases below 70 DEG.F (21.11 DEG.C), the temperature switch closes and 115 V AC is supplied to a heater coil. This increase the APU oil temperature to more than the APU compartment temperature during cold soak condition. When the oil temperature increases to above 110 DEG.F (43.33 DEG.C) (in case of a warm APU compartment temperature condition). The temperature switch then opens, and stops the 115 V AC supply to the heater coil.
 The sensors generator-oil temperature sensor and oil-sump temperature sensor
 together with the ECB 59KD monitor the APU oil heater 2KT.
