3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2)
On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(3)
Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(5)
Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
(6)
Make sure that the APU access doors are open (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(7)
Make sure that the LIGHT control switch 11LJ is set to the on position.

4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Magnetic Drain Plug
(1)
Apply OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new O-ring (4).
(2)
Install the new O-ring (4) on the plug (1).
(3)
Install the plug (1) into the gearbox.
(4)
TORQUE the plug (1) to between 0.57 and 0.73 m.daN (50.44 and 64.60 lbf.in).
(5)
Safety the plug (1) with MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010).
(6)
Apply OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new preformed packing (2).
(7)
Install the new preformed packing (2) on the magnetic element (3).
(8)
Install the magnetic element (3) in the gearbox and hand-tighten it.
(9)
Make the area dry with a lint-free cloth to remove the unwanted oil from the gearbox surface.
(10)
Service the oil system (Ref. TASK 49-90-00-600-004). Subtask 49-91-42-865-061
B.
Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD

C. Leak Test
(1) Do the operational test of the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-710-008).
(a) Make sure that the magnetic drain plug does not leak.

(1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Set the LIGHT control switch 11LJ to the off position.
(3)
Close the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(4)
Remove the access platform(s). Subtask 49-91-42-860-052

Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Pressurize the reservoirs of the hydraulic systems.
