A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(2)
Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(3)
Make sure that ground fire extinguishing equipment is available.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
4. Procedure

A. Cleaning of Oil Cooler (8079KM)
(1) Cleaning by Immersion.
(a)
Remove the oil cooler (Ref. TASK 49-91-44-000-001).
(b)
Fit blanking plugs to oil inlet and outlet ports.
(c)
Prepare the cleaning agent as instructed by the manufacturers information.
(d)
Fill the cleaning tank with enough CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-013) or CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-025) to completely immerse cooler.
(e)
Heat the cleaning agent to the recommended temperture if the cooler is heavily contaminated.
CAUTION : DO NOT LET THE OIL COOLER STAY IN THE CLEANING AGENT
_______ FOR MORE THAN FOUR HOURS. AFTER THIS TIME, THE CLEANING AGENT WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE OIL COOLER COVERING.
(f)
Immerse the cooler in the cleaning agent for a maximum working time of four hours.
(g)
Agitate the cooler to remove any trapped air.
(h)
Flush the cleaning agent through the cooler matrix to speed up the cleaning time.
(i)
Remove the cooler from the cleaning tank and drain thoroughly.
(j)
Rinse the cooler with fresh water.
(k)
Carry out the visual inspection detailed in para (3).
(2) Cleaning with Steam CAUTION : KEEP THE WAND TIP 30 CENTIMETERS (12 INCHES) AWAY FROM THE
_______ OIL COOLER MATRIX. THE STEAM PRESSURE FROM THE WAND CAN BEND THE MATRIX VANES AND REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE COATING.
(a)
Remove the oil cooler. (Ref. TASK 49-91-44-000-001)
(b)
Fit blanking plugs to oil inlet and outlet ports.
(c)
Prepare the steam cleaning solution as instructed by the
manufacturers information.
(d)
Add a small amount of CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-013) or CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-025) to the water to assist with removal of heavy contamination from the cooler.
(e)
Set the pressure of the steam cleaner to between 1.7 bar (24.6564 psi) and 2.0 bar (29.0075 psi).
WARNING : USE A PROTECTIVE EYE SHIELD/GOGGLES WHEN YOU USE
_______ COMPRESSED AIR. DEBRIS AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN DAMAGE YOUR EYES.
(f)
Direct the cleaner spray through the matrix of the cooler until all sign of contamination is removed, rotate the cooler as you clean it.
(g)
Rinse the cooler with clean water until all trace of cleaning agent is removed.
(h)
Cary out the visual inspection detailed in para (3).
