A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Energize the ground service network
(Ref. TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2)
On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
(3)
Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
(1)
Put the access platform in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Set the LIGHT control switch 11LJ to the on position.

A. Removal of the Thermal By-pass Valve
(1)
Put a container below the thermal by-pass valve (6) and oil tubes (9).
(2)
Remove bolts (3), lift the oil tube retainer (2) and remove the oil tubes (9) from the thermal by-pass valve (6), let the oil drain into the container.
(3)
Remove and discard the oil tube packing (1).
(4)
Hold the thermal by-pass valve (6), remove bolts (8) and washers (7).
(5)
Remove the thermal by-pass valve (6) from the oil cooler (4), let the oil drain into the container.
(6)
Remove and discard the packing (5).
(7)
Put blanking plugs/caps on the open tube ends, on the oil cooler and on the thermal by-pass valve.
