SKIN TEMPERATURE SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has instructions to remove and install the skin temperature switch for the equipment cooling system. The switch is installed on the airplane skin, below the floor of the forward cargo compartment at station 530, left of the center line.

C. Prepare for the Removal

CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WHEN YOU DO
_______ THIS PROCEDURE. IF YOU OPERATE THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT WHEN THE EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM IS OFF, YOU CAN CAUSE THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT TO BECOME TOO HOT.
(1) Remove the electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
D. Remove the Switch

(1)
Disconnect the electrical connector, DS1888, from the switch.
(2)
Cut and remove the lockwire from the switch.

D. Install the Switch

Apply a layer of the sealant above the hole in the boss.

(2)
Put a new O-ring on the switch.

Install the switch.
(a) Make sure the sealant comes out of the hole when you install the switch.

Install a lockwire on the switch (Ref 20-11-28/401).

Connect the electrical connector, DS1888, to the switch.
E. Do the Installation Test for the Switch
NOTE: Do this test when the ambient temperature is more

than 45°F (7°C).

(1) From the outer side of the airplane, turn the manual drive collar of the overboard exhaust valve until the valve is closed (Ref 21-58-12/401).
