E. Remove the Air Cycle Machine (ACM)
S 034-036 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE ACM IS NOT HOT AND THAT THE PRESSURE IN THE ACM
_______ IS RELEASED SLOWLY. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE ACM OR A SUDDEN RELEASE OF THE PRESSURE FROM THE ACM CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(1) Remove the retainer (1), sleeve (2) and seals (3) from the
compressor inlet duct (AMM 36-11-01/401).
S 034-007 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE TO DISCONNECT THE
_______ DUCTS. TOO MUCH FORCE ON THE DUCTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DUCTS.
(2)
Remove the couplings (4, 10, and 12) and the 0-rings (5, 11 and 13) from the compressor outlet, the turbine inlet, and the turbine bypass inlet ducts.

Remove the coupling (6) from the conditioned air outlet duct. S 034-009

Remove the clamp (8) from the ACM (7) and the fan diffuser housing (9).

DAMAGE COULD OCCURE.
(6) Install the ACM lifting tool to hold all of the weight of the ACM.

(7) Remove the nuts (16), washers (17) and bolts (18) (4 locations) from
the top of the bracket (14).

(8) Remove the ACM.
NOTE:____ The bracket (14) and the jumper assembly (15) are
attached to the ACM.

Remove the nuts (19), washers (20) and bolts (21) (4 locations).

Remove the bracket (14) and the jumper assembly (15) from the ACM (7).

Do a check of the components connected to the ACM.
NOTE: This check will make sure that the ACM failure was not
____ caused by some other problem in the pack.
(a)
Make sure there is no damage to the ram air screen(s).
(b)
Make sure there is no damage to the fan diffuser housing.
(c)
Make sure the flappers of the compressor bypass check valve operate correctly.
(d)
Make sure there is no damage to the switch and the temperature bulb in the compressor outlet duct.
(e)
Make sure there is not a crack or other damage in the ACM mounting brackets.
