FAN DIFFUSER AND INLET HOUSING - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure has instructions to remove and install the fan diffuser and inlet housing (fan housing). One fan housing is installed in each air cooling pack, aft of the air cycle machine.
B. The fan is part of the air cycle machine. To remove or install the fan, do the procedure to remove or install the air cycle machine (Ref 21-51-04/401).

C. Prepare for the Removal

(1) Make sure the applicable (1, 2, or 3) PACKS selector, on the overhead panel, P5, is in the OFF position.
(a) Put a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag on the selector.

D. Remove the Housing
S 034-005
(1) Disconnect the housing from the ram-air duct.
(a)
Remove the bolts from the support rods on the clamp.
(b)
Disconnect the support rods from the clamp.
(c)
Remove the clamp from the duct joint.
(d)
Move the flexible sleeve away from the housing.

(2) Disconnect the housing from the heat exchanger.
(a)
Remove the bolts from the support rods on the clamp.
(b)
Disconnect the support rods from the clamp.
(c)
Remove the clamp from the duct joint.
(d)
Move the flexible duct away from the housing.

(3)
Remove the clamp that is between the housing and the air cycle machine.

(4)
Remove the housing from the air cooling pack.

(5)
If it is necessary, remove the ram air system screen from the inlet housing for re-installation on the new inlet housing (AMM 21-51-15/401).
NOTE: If you do not remove the screen from the old inlet housing,
____ you will need to get/install a new screen, since the new inlet housing will not have one.
