 Remove the two access panels (13) and (14) below the thrust levers on the left side of the control stand.

 Disengage the pushrod at the short lever on the bellcrank (12) in the control stand.

 S 424-020
 (1)  
Move the lockshaft (3) in its position, align it with the bearings and install the inboard end of the shaft in the bearing.

Set the lockshaft in its position and install the outboard bearing and housing (4) over the shaft.

Install the bolts with red anticorrosive washers under the heads and attach the bearing housing.

Connect the return spring (5) to the structure.

Install the lever (6) on the inboard end of the lockshaft.

Install and tighten the attach bolt with the red anticorrosive washers under the head and the nut.

Install the bellcrank (12) in the lower part of the control stand with the short lever up and the long lever aft.

 Install the bolt and attach the bellcrank.

 With captain's rudder pedals in neutral, install the rig pin of the rudder pedal through the pedal shafts.

 Adjust the pawls on the lockshaft.

 (a)  
Extend each pawl one turn at a time until the parking brake cannot be set.

 (b)  
Retract the 2 pawls 2 turns to set the adjustment.

 (c)  
Make sure that the parking brake can be set from the seats of the pilot and the first officer.


 NOTE: If it is necessary, adjust the pawls (retract one turn
____ at a time). Also, the more you retract the the pawls the higher the parking brake bleed-down rate will be.
 (d)  Lock the adjustment.

 Add or remove the washers to set the bumper stop for the pawls.

 With the parking brake off, the pick-up bolt (on the bellcrank of the brake control) should be clear of the pawl by 5/32 inch (at the closest point) when the brake pedals are pushed (Fig. 401, Sheet 2, Detail C).
