S 216-002
(1)
Examine the wheels for cracks, flaked paint and signs of overheat.

(2)
Do a check on the dust caps for loose attach bolts.

(3)
Examine the tie bolt installations for the conditions that follow:
(a)
Loose tie bolts and tie bolt nuts
(b)
Damaged tiebolts
(c)
Tie bolt locations that do not have tie bolts.

If you found a loose or damaged tie bolt or a tie bolt location without a tie bolt, remove the wheel (AMM 32-45-11/401 and AMM 32-45-21/401).
(5)
Repair the wheel.

NOTE: Refer to the Component Maintenance Manual for the wheel for
____ the procedure to lubricate and install the tie bolts. The torque values for the tie bolt nuts are for a wheel with a tire that is deflated.

WARNING:_______DEFLATE THE TIRE BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE TIE BOLTS. AN EXPLOSIVE SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL HALVES COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.
(a)
Deflate the tire.
(b)
Remove the tie bolts that are damaged or loose.
(c)
Remove the tie bolts on the two sides of tie bolt locations that had damage or tie bolts that are loose.
(d)
Remove the tie bolts on the two sides of tie bolt locations that did not have tie bolts.
(e)
Discard the tie bolts and tie bolt nuts that you removed.
(f)
Lubricate the new tie bolts and the tie bolt nuts.
(g)
Inflate the tire (AMM 12-15-51/301).

Do a Check on the Wheel Halves

(1)
Do a check for a wheel that is incorrectly put at an angle and for pieces of flange that are gone.

(2)
Do a check for areas on the wheel that show too much damage.
E.
Examine the Thermal Fuse on the Main Gear Wheels

(1)
If the inspection shows that a pressure drop occurred because the wheel thermal fuse melted, do a high energy/heat damage condition inspection (AMM 05-51-07/201).

(2)
If a tire is flat, do a high energy/heat damage condition inspection (AMM 05-51-07/201).

Tag the removal cause to the wheel.
(b)
Examine the wheel (refer to the wheel vendor's service instructions).
