STEERING CYLINDER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task removes the steering cylinder for the nose wheel steering. The second task installs the steering cylinder for the nose wheel steering.
B. This procedure also contains the task to examine the nose wheel steering system.

Install the ground locks on the nose landing gear
(AMM 32-00-01/201).

Release the pressure from the hydraulic system A

Remove the steering metering valve (AMM 32-51-11/401).

Disconnect the steering cables.
(a)
Install the rig pin in the steering drum in the control cabin.
(b)
Get access on panel 1103 and loosen the tension of cables NWSA and NWSB at turnbuckles.
NOTE: The NWSA turnbuckles are between the steering wheel and
____ the steering quadrant of the rudder pedal. The other NWSA turnbuckle is on the outboard of the nose wheel well (which is opposite the upper part of the shock strut). Also, the NWSB turnbuckle is on the outboard of the nose wheel well.
