Remove the cotter keys (5 and 14) in the cable drum (4) and remove the cables NWSA and NWSB.

If it is necessary to remove the housing (13), remove the insulation around the three bolts.

Remove the bolts.

Procedure
S 434-016
(1)
Install the washer (19) and outboard bearing (15) in the housing (13).

Set the cables in the cable drum (4) and install the cotter keys (5 and 14).

(3)
Set the cable drum (4), the spacer (6 and 7), the bearing (8), and install the shaft (11).
(a)
Make sure the index points will line up on the splines.
(4)
Install the washer (16) and the shaft nut (18).
(5)
Align the cotter pin holes and install the cotter key.
(6)
Install the bearing retainer (11) with the three screws.
(7)
Install the sidewall (3) (AMM 25-21-46/401).

Install the rig pin (2).

Install the steering wheel (1).
NOTE: The arrow on the steering wheel must align with the arrow on

the sidewall after you install the rigging pin.
(a)
Put the steering wheel (1) in its position for attachment to the shaft of the tiller assembly.
(b)
Install the washer, and the wheel nut (10) to hold the steering wheel (1) to the shaft.
(c)
Tighten the wheel nut (10) and measure the torque it takes to run it on the threads of the shaft.
(d)
Add 50-75 lb-in torque to the measured run-on torque in the step above and tightened the wheel nut (10) for the final torque.
NOTE: Make sure the final torque value is below 375 lb-in.

(e)
Install the button plug (9) on the steering wheel (1).
(10)
If it is necessary, tighten the cables (AMM 32-51-00/501).
