STEERING SYSTEM CABLES - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the steering systems cables.
(2)
The installation of the steering systems cables.
B.
All position cables can be removed according to this section except for NGPPA(E) and NGPPB(C). These are cables attached to the drum which must be removed by removing the complete rudder pedal steering assembly (AMM 32-51-21/401). Refer to Overhaul Manual for disassembly of rudder pedal steering assembly.

(1) Rigging Pins - MS20392, 0.311 + 0.000/-0.002 inch diameter x 6.0 inches long (2 required)
NOTE: Rigging pins are part of F70207-69 or F70207-78.

Prepare to Remove the Position Cables

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING
_______ GEAR. WITHOUT THE GROUND LOCK PINS, THE LANDING COULD RETRACT AND CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
If the groundlock pins are not installed on all the landing gear, do this task: Install the ground lock assemblies (AMM 32-00-01/201).

Lift the nose of the airplane with the jack until the tires will not touch the ground (AMM 07-11-11/201).

Remove the aft access panel from the left side of the nose wheel well.
NOTE: You will get access to the turnbuckles (41) of the position
____ cables (NGPPA and NGPPB) on the nose landing gear after you remove the access panel.

(4) Install the rigging pins in the cable drum (32) and set the cable quadrant (27).
