Open all of the circuit breakers for the landing gear on the circuit breaker panel, P6-2, and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags.

Remove the pressure from the hydraulic system A (Ref 29-15-00/201).

Do these steps to remove the position switch for the control lever (Fig. 401):
(a)
Release and lower the instrument panel for the first officer.
(b)
Remove the bolts that attach the switch support bracket to the control lever assembly.
(c)
Remove the bolts, washers, and nuts that attach the switch assembly to the switch support bracket.

Remove the switch wires at the switch terminals.

Install the Position Switch

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE GROUND LOCKS ON THE NOSE AND MAIN
_______ LANDING GEAR BEFORE YOU MOVE THE CONTROL LEVER FOR THE LANDING GEAR. IF YOU MOVE THE CONTROL LEVER WITHOUT THE GROUND LOCKS INSTALLED, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Make sure the ground locks are installed on the nose and main landing gear (Ref 32-00-01/201).
(2)
Do these steps to install the position switch for the control lever:
S 424-007
CAUTION: YOU MUST TURN THE HEADS OF THE SWITCH INSTALLATION BOLTS
_______ INBOARD WHEN YOU INSTALL THEM. IF THE SWITCH BOLT HEADS DO NOT POINT INBOARD, THEY CAN GET CAUGHT IN THE LOCK MECHANISM FOR THE CONTROL LEVER.
(a)
Assemble the position switch on the switch assembly.
(b)
Connect the switch wires to the switch terminals.
