If you will replace the brake that you removed, and the new brake assembly does not have the inner part of the brake disconnect installed, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Use a wrench and the brake disconnect valve socket to remove the inner part of the brake disconnect valve from the brake.
NOTE: When you remove the the disconnect valve from the brake,
____ do not spill hydraulic fluid on the brake or adjacent structure.
(b) Remove the O-ring and the backup rings. Discard the O-rings.

(14) Visually examine the brake attachment flange for signs of cracks.
NOTE: Cracks will start from the brake mounting holes and move in
____ to the axle or to the outer diameter of the flange. No more than four holes can have cracks that move to the outer diameter.

Visually examine the main gear axle between the brake mounting flanges for signs of cracks.
(a)
If cracks are found, replace the shock strut of the main landing gear (AMM 32-11-21/401).

Do a check for signs of heat damage on the axle brake flanges.

If there are signs of heat damage, repair the main gear axle (AMM 32-11-85/801).

E. Prepare to Install the Brake (Fig. 402)

(1) Do the following steps to bleed the brake on the bench.
NOTE: These steps are optional that may reduce the time required
____
to bleed the brake.
(a)
Set the brake on a bench in its usual, upright position as installed on the airplane (brake port on the top).
(b)
Apply a light coating of BATCO X8401-2 grease on the brake half of the brake disconnect, from the diametrical surface above the upper retaining ring to the top of the brake half.
(c)
Install the brake coupling half of the disconnect.
1) Tighten the brake coupling half of the disconnect to 20-25 pound-feet torque.
(d)
Attach a hydraulic line with a mating hose disconnect between the brake assembly and a hydraulic pressure source that can supply a minimum of 250 psi of hydraulic fluid.
(e)
Carefully bleed the brake assembly as follows: 1) Remove the bleeder screw and the washer from the bleeder
valve. 2) Connect a flexible hose to the bleed valve of the brake. 3) Put the free end of the hose into a clean receptacle not
