Make sure the clearance between the forward and the aft collar halves is 0.02 |0.01 inch.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE CURE TIME OF THE SEALANT. THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN YOU LUBRICATE THE BEARING. IF THE SEALANT WILL NOT CURE PROPERLY, DAMAGE TO THE STEERING COLLAR BEARING WILL WILL OCCUR.
(h)
Add fillet seal and fill the clearance with sealant.
(i)
Lubricate the steering collar (AMM 12-21-21/301).

(4) S 434-015Install the retaining pin (18) to the upper torsion link (AMM 32-21-31/401).
(5) S 714-016Make sure the steering collar can move freely. (a) Hold the torsion link horizontally. 1) Apply a maximum force of 5 pounds horizontally to the top end of the link. (b) Make sure the steering collar is free to turn 90 degrees in the two direction.

Install the left bolt and the bolt bushings (8 and 11) of the steering collar.

Remove the tape from the cables wind into the coil to the trunnion.

Install the cable terminals (NWSA and NWSB) in the recess in the grooves on the aft side of the steering collar (20). 1) AIRPLANES WITH TWO CABLES;
Install the spring pins (22) on the steering collar (20). a) Install the lockwire (21) on the spring pins (22).
2) AIRPLANES WITH ONE CABLE; On steering cylinder with single cable, install the cotter pins (21) on the steering collar (20).

Install the apex bolt of the torsion link.
